Principal Launches 4 New Awards in Different Discipline: DAV to Announce 14 Departmental (Subject-wise) Awards Soon
The Principal, Dr. Bhubaneswari Rao, conferred the Pratik Scholarship Award for the Academic Session 2026–27 upon Purvansh Bhatta and Pratik Kunwar during the Senior School Award Distribution Ceremony held yesterday (5 May 2026).
The Pratik Scholarship Award, instituted for Grade XI, commemorates the memory of Pratik Jung Bahadur Rana, a Grade XI student who tragically lost his life in a road accident. In honour of his legacy, Pratik Hall in Shankar Sadan has also been established.
The scholarship is awarded based on the results of the Grade XI final examinations for the Academic Session 2025–26. Purvansh Bhatta secured the top position in the Science stream with an impressive 91%, while Pratik Kunwar topped the Commerce stream with 90%.
Congratulating both recipients, the Principal applauded their outstanding achievement. She also warmly welcomed the Grade XI students as they embarked on their Senior School journey and encouraged them to strive for excellence, inspiring them to aim for the Pratik Scholarship Award in the coming year.
During the ceremony, the Principal introduced fifteen award categories, clearly explaining their significance and the criteria for selection. These included the Academic Excellence Award, PRO Award, Character Candle Award, Ekalavya Award, Chairman Goldstar Award, Scholar Limelight Award, Pratik Scholarship Award, Best Portfolio Award, Star Notebook Award, Student Well-being Ambassadors Award (Prefect Council), Class Champion Award, SHIELD Student Award (Safety Ambassadors), ‘Athlete of the Meet’ Award, Read to the Principal Award, and the Kindness Tree Award.
She further announced that additional awards would be introduced by all the departments, highlighting the Mathematics Department’s initiative of the ‘Number Ninja Award’, dedicated to mastery in multiplication tables.
Notably, four new awards have been introduced this academic session, while the Character Candle Award has been presented as a refined version of the earlier Character Tree Award. Expressing her aspirations, the Principal encouraged every student to aim for at least two awards by the end of the Academic Session 2026–27 and wished them a bright and successful future.
