1st Sushil Kedia Memorial Inter School Badminton Tournament

The First Sushil Kedia Memorial Inter-School Badminton Tournament was held on 27th and 28th August, commemorating the 58th birth anniversary of late Shree Sushil Kedia. Ten schools participated in the event, including Bright Future School, Campaign School, Galaxy Public School, Graded English Medium School, Kavya School, Modern Indian School, Nepal Police School, Rai School, St. Xavier's School, and DAV School. The tournament featured separate competitions for boys and girls in the under-14 and under-16 age categories. Chairperson of DAV School and Colleges, Shree Anil Kedia, the elder brother of late Shree Sushil Kedia visited Indu Hall along with NEB +2 Director Mr. Suman Basnet. They paid tribute to the departed souls and interacted with the participants encouraging them to uphold sportsmanship throughout the tournament. The Chairperson also extended his best wishes to all the contestants. The Tournament was officially inaugurated by Vice-principal Mr. Ramchandra Khanal in the presence of Senior School Co-ordinator Mr. Tank Meghji Devji and Sports HoD Mr. Purnendu Ghosh on August 27. As per the results, in the boys' under-14 category, Ishan Giri from Nepal Police School secured first place, followed by Siddhant Shrestha, also from Nepal Police School, in second place. Shuvam Chauhan from Galaxy Public School and Rayan Nath from Modern Indian School shared the third position. In the girls' under-14 category, Yushna Maharjan from DAV claimed first place, with Neeva Thapa, also from DAV, finishing second. Srijan Shrestha from Modern Indian School and Upasti Dahal from GEMS School shared the third position. Similarly, in the boys' under-16 category, Ashmit Rana from Nepal Police School won first place, followed by Lil Prasad Chantyal, also from Nepal Police School, in second place. Aayog Singh from St. Xavier's School and Shuvam Chauhan from Galaxy Public School shared the third position. In the same trait, in the girls' under-16 category, Sujata Pokhrel from Galaxy Public School secured first place, followed by Akshara Yadav, also from Galaxy Public School, in second place. Neeva Thapa from DAV and Shradha Amol from Modern Indian School shared the third position. Overall, Nepal Police School emerged as the winner of the tournament, with Galaxy Public School in second place. DAV and Modern Indian School shared the third position. Following the final matches, DAV Principal Dr. Bhubaneswari Rao congratulated and honoured all the winners with the medals, trophies, and certificate of achievement. Meanwhile, she equally admired all the participants for their energetic performances throughout the tournament. The officials from Nepal Badminton Association, including Mr. Om Muni Bajracharya, Mr. Arjun Shrestha and Mr. Pratish Shakya, along with National Badminton Player Ms. Shriya Bajracharya, made significant contribution to the success of the tournament. Additionally, twelve student volunteers who assisted during the tournament were each recognized with Certificate of Appreciation at the closing ceremony.
