
Middle School Nepali Verse Poetry Recitation Competition Held to Celebrate 212th Bhanu Jayanti

The Nepali Department and the Devkota Nepali Club of DAV School organised a Nepali Verse Poetry Recitation Competition for middle school students on the occasion of the 212th Bhanu Jayanti. The event took place on 11th July in Jetavan Hall, within the school premises.
The programme was graced by the presence of Vice-principal Mr. Ramchandra Khanal and Head of the Nepali Department Mr. Narayan Khatiwada. The competition was adjudicated by Mr. Modnath Paudel and Mr. Lalmani Panthi, both esteemed members of the Nepali Department.
A total of 24 selected students from Grades V to VIII enthusiastically recited Nepali verse poetry. According to Mr. Dambar Bikel, In-charge of the Devkota Nepali Club, the participants showcased remarkable zeal and interest throughout the programme.
Addressing the gathering, Vice-principal Mr. Ramchandra Khanal reflected on the linguistic contributions of Bhanubhakta Acharya, highlighting how the translation of the Sanskrit Ramayan into Nepali brought the epic into every Nepali household. He noted the evolution of the language since Bhanubhakta’s time and praised the students for their heartfelt recitations, encouraging them to continue reading and composing verse poetry.
Similarly, Mr. Narayan Khatiwada, Head of the Nepali Department, emphasised the richness and uniqueness of Nepali verse poetry, stating that such poetic diversity is unparalleled in any other language. He offered insightful feedback to the participants and encouraged all students to engage in poetry creation in the future.
In the competition, Ojashwi Dharala and Anya Jha secured the first position. The second position was shared by Manaswi Devkota and Seema Thakur, while Aarsh Ghimire and Isha Fatima Hussain claimed third place. The fourth position went to Jenny Chitrakar and Yushuf Kamal. In the overall house ranking, Gaurishankar House emerged as the winner, followed by Dhaulagiri House in second and Kanchanjanga House in third.
All winners were honoured with Certificates of Achievement, presented by the Vice-Principal. The event was eloquently hosted by Shambhavi Basyal of Grade XI ‘A’.
