Inter-house Social Speech Competition for Grade IX Students

Inter-house Speech Competition for Grade IX students was observed in Indu Hall today (29th January, 2023).

A total of twelve contestants, two students from each house participated in the speech competition and presented their views and understanding of different contemporary issues like corruption, social media, dowry, street vending, child labor and begging.

The judges of the competition were Mr. Sanjeev Rai and Mr. Bir Singh from the Department of English. According to Club In-charge Mr. Rupak Raj Thapa, the key objective of the competition was to make students competent to speak in various social issues. 

As per the results, Abyani Silwal – Section B (Annapurna House) and Bhabya –Section H (Lhotse House) each scored 76 points and won the first position.  Bhabya Jha- Section G (Dhaulagiri House) with 75 points won the second position. Pushpanjali Sinha – Section G (Kanchanjanga House) with 66 points won the third position and Ankesh Jha –Section E (Annapurna House) with 64 points won the fourth position.

The contestants were evaluated on the linguistic features like content, fluency and accuracy including non-linguistic features such as confidence, expression and sequence. The audience were from Grade IX 'G' and 'H' sections. 

Meanwhile, Mr. Bir Singh provided some useful tips of public speaking to the students. Senior School Activity In-charge Mr. Tankanath Ghimire, Social Studies HoD Ms. Aarti Sharma and some of the teachers of Grade IX were there to witness the activities of their ward.
