
Sacred Observance of Sangha Daan and Dharmadeshana on the 59th Birth Anniversary of Late Sushil Kedia

DAV Chairperson Shree Anil Kedia along with his all Family members organised the much-awaited Sangha Daan and Dharmadeshana programme on the auspicious occasion of 59th Birth Anniversary of Late Sushil Kedia at the school premises yesterday (22nd September, 2025).
According to the Buddhism, Sangha Daan is regarded as the most noble and sacred act, leading towards the attainment of Nirwanprapti for the departed soul.
The Sangha Daan was graced by the presence of Venerable Bhikkhu Nigrodha, Bhikkhu Vimalo, Bhikkhu, Prof. Dr. Sankichcha Bhikkhu, Bhikkhu Sagar and Bhikkhu Uday Bhadra in the long list. The programme also witnessed the participation of Bhikkhus from Sri Lanka, Thailand, Germany, and France. More than 150 Bhikkhus and Bhikkhunis representing Bishwoshanti Bihar, Baneshwor; Munni Bihar, Bhaktapur; Mangalsiddhi Bihar, Harisiddhi, Lalitpur; and Dharmakirti Bihar, Tha Hiti took part in the sacred offering.
The Dharmadeshana commenced with a warm welcome extended by Chairperson Shree Anil Kedia to all the distinguished Bhikkhus, spiritual seekers, and the entire DAV family. With deep reverence, he, together with the staff members, prayed for the Nirwanprapti of his beloved brother Late Sushil Kedia and their revered parents, Late Shree Shankar Lal Kedia and Late Shreemati Indumati Kedia. In his address, he earnestly requested the Venerable Bhikkhus to shed light on ways to overcome human sorrows through the Dharmadeshana.
The formal programme began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Chairperson Shree Anil Kedia. Addressing the gathering, Venerable Bhikkhu Nigrodha warmly welcomed everyone and praised DAV for successfully organising numerous national and international programmes, while upholding the essence of moral and spiritual education through meditation and Eastern philosophies. On behalf of all Bhikkhus, he commended DAV SKVB School for its commendable work under the leadership of Chairperson Shree Anil Kedia, Principal Dr. Bhubaneswari Rao, Vice-principal Mr. Ramchandra Khanal, and CAO Ms. Vijaya Tater.
The gathering then observed the recitation of Panchsheel Prarthana. The keynote address of the Dharmadeshana was delivered by Venerable Bhikkhu Vimalo, who lauded DAV for nurturing an environment of spirituality and for promoting Vipassana meditation. Aligning with Chairperson Shree Anil Kedia’s reflections, he dedicated his discourse to explaining how the teachings of Buddhism guide humanity in overcoming suffering and sorrow. He particularly noted the significance DAV attaches to Sangha Daan and commended the Chairperson for consistently organizing this sacred programme every year.
During his sermon, Bhikkhu Vimalo elaborated on profound Buddhist principles, including Daan, Sangha Daan, Daan Paramita, Sheel, Samadhi, Pragya, as well as the concepts of Lobh, Dwesh, Moha, the 31 Bhuvanas, Manushya Lok, Deva Lok and Brahma Lok, as taught by Lord Gautam Buddha. He inspired all present to practise Daan and Sheel, emphasising the Arya Ashtangika Marga as the only true path to transcend sorrow and suffering in human life.
As part of the Sangha Daan, the Bhikkhu and spiritual seekers collectively recited the Paritran Path. Chairperson Shree Anil Kedia, the First Lady Shreemati Sunita Kedia and their beloved son Shree Ayush Kedia, along with all members of the Kedia family, reverently participated in Ashtapariskar Daan, followed by Punyanumodan, Bhojan Daan, and Sangha Daan.
The programme concluded with prayers offered by all the distinguished Bhikkhus and Bhikkhunis, together with Chairperson Shree Anil Kedia, for the peace, happiness, and prosperity of all who were present.
The Principal Dr. Bhubaneswari Rao, CAO Ms. Vijaya Tater, SSO Mr. Prashant Samal, Senior School Co-ordinator Mr. Tank Meghji Devji, Human Resources Manager Mr. Ashish Rai, along with Faculty Heads of DAV College, were present to extend warm hospitality and heartfelt welcome to the invited monks and nuns.
