Inter House Science Extempore for Grade IX and X Students, July 2025

The Inter-House Science Extempore Competition for Grades IX and X was held with great enthusiasm on 8th July 2025, under the auspices of the Newton Science Club. The event brought together brilliant minds from all six houses, fostering scientific curiosity, quick thinking, and effective public speaking skills among the students.
Participants from Grades IX and X showcased their knowledge and spontaneity as they delivered speeches on various topics from Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Astronomy. Each speaker was allotted a topic on the spot and given three minutes to present their ideas. The competition was judged on several criteria including content, clarity, accuracy, expression, and depth of subject knowledge.
Topics such as 'Periodic Table', 'Newton’s Law of Motion', 'Biodiversity', and 'AI and Physics' inspired insightful and thought-provoking speeches. A total of 24 students participated in the competition, representing all six houses.
Pragya Pant of Grade X ‘C’ from Mt. Lhotse House secured the first position. The second place was awarded to Kunj Agrawal of Grade IX ‘F’ from Mt. Machhapuchhre House, while Rachit Raj Jha of Grade X ‘C’ from Mt. Annapurna House claimed third position. Additionally, Ujjwal Dhoot of Grade X ‘F’ from Mt. Dhaulagiri House and Debrya Jain of Grade X ‘H’ from Mt. Machhapuchhre House were also recognised in the third position category.
The competition was judged by Mr. Vivek Kumar Chaudhary, Science Teacher, and Mr. Birendra Mandal, Chemistry Lab In-charge. Both judges, along with the audience, applauded the confidence and intellectual depth demonstrated by the students. They also appreciated the efforts of the organisers, particularly Activity In-charge Mr. Tankanatha Ghimire and Club In-charge Mr. Sudhir Singh, for successfully coordinating such a meaningful and intellectually stimulating event.
