
Inter House Science Debate Competition Concludes Successfully

The Newton Science Club organised an Inter House Science Debate Competition for the students of Grade IX to XII on 6th August 2025 at Jetavan Hall.
The topic for debate was, 'Will Artificial Intelligence (AI) do more harm than good to society'.
The competition saw engaging performances from participants representing all four houses, with each debater showcasing strong research skills, clear articulation, and logical reasoning.
In the individual category, Saksham Kumar Gupta of Grade XII C (Mount Annapurna House) secured first place, followed by Aayushma Lamichhane of Grade X E (Mount Gaurishankar House) in second place. Suwana Upreti of Grade IX B (Mount Machhapuchchhre House) claimed third place, while Megha Thakur of Grade XI B (Mount Lhotse House) earned fourth place.
In the overall house standings, Mount Gaurishankar House emerged as the champion with 163 points, closely followed by Mount Lhotse House in second place with 160 points, and Mount Machhapuchchhre House in third place with 157 points. The judges were Mr. Sudhir Singh and Mr. Nitesh Kumar Das. The judging criteria were content, fluency, accuracy, confident and rebuttals.
The event not only fostered healthy competition but also encouraged students to explore scientific topics critically and confidently.
