Celebration of 213th Bhanu Jayanti in Senior School

The Nepali Department and Devkota Nepali Club organised an Inter-House Nepali Verse Poetry Recitation Competition for Senior School students to celebrate the 213th Bhanu Jayanti. The programme was held in Jetavan Hall on July 17.
The event was attended by the Head of the Nepali Department, Mr. Narayan Khatiwada, the Head of the Sanskrit Department, Mr. Purushottam Rijal, and the Senior School CCA In-charge, Mr. Tankanath Ghimire.
A total of 12 students participated in the competition. The judges were Mr. Purushottam Rijal and Sanskrit teacher Mr. Sudeep Mishra. The participants beautifully recited different Nepali verse poems with confidence, expression and melody.
Speaking at the programme, Mr. Narayan Khatiwada highlighted the great contribution of Adikavi Bhanubhakta Acharya to the Nepali language and literature. He shared that people continue to remember and honour Bhanubhakta by organising such programmes every year. He also appreciated the students' performances and gave them constructive feedback on their recitations.
Mr. Khatiwada described poetry as one of the oldest and most powerful forms of literature to express human emotions. He encouraged students to read, listen to, and write poems. He also recited a satirical poem by Dr. Rajendra Bhandari from the Grade X CBSE textbook to inspire the students.
Similarly, Mr. Purushottam Rijal encouraged students to memorize poems, saying that they are a valuable treasure of knowledge that can be remembered and used throughout life.
In Grade IX, Asmina KC secured the first position, followed by Samip Pokhrel in second place and Rabisa Shrestha in third place.
In Grade X, Tejashwi Khadka won the first position, while Sofiya Baniya secured second place. Gunjan Chitrakar and Smarika Maharjan jointly secured the third position.
The programme was smoothly hosted by Sarbani Subedi and Shubham Yadav of Grade X. Merit certificates were presented to all the winners and participants immediately after the competition. Students from Grades IX 'E' and 'F' attended the programme as the audience.
