Chauffeurs Appreciation Day 2026/27: Saluting the Heroes Behind Every Journey

The Students' Prefect Council, in collaboration with the Prefect Council Team, organized the much-awaited Chauffeurs Appreciation Day in Buddha Hall on July 19. The programme was held to recognize and honour the dedicated transportation staff of DAV for their invaluable service to the school community. DAV Chairperson Shree Anil Kedia and Principal Dr. Bhubaneswari Rao, along with the Management Team, warmly welcomed all the transportation staff to the event. They expressed their heartfelt gratitude and honoured them for their unwavering dedication, commitment, and outstanding service in ensuring the safety and well-being of the school children.
The formal programme commenced with welcoming the guests, followed by the traditional lighting of the lamp, the national anthem presentation, and a welcome speech. As a part of a vibrant cultural showcase, the students presented an orchestra, a Bharatnatyam dance, and a Nepali song, alongside a special musical performance by the Music Department of DAV School.
Addressing the audience on this auspicious occasion, DAV Chairperson Shree Anil Kedia heartily welcomed all the transportation staff and shared that he had long aspired from the bottom of his heart to conduct this programme. He expressed his immense delight to see transportation staff members who have been working at DAV for 31 years, noting that this kind of deep family bonding is incredibly difficult to find elsewhere. Reflecting on his own driving experience over the last 50 years, he highlighted the high level of sensitivity required on the road. He placed the transportation staff of DAV as the guardians of the school, emphasizing that DAV parents have deeply trusted them for their dedicated service since the institution's establishment.
Furthermore, the Chairperson encouraged the students to learn key virtues from the transportation staff, such as time management, patience, safety, a spirit of service, and continuity. He urged the children to cultivate a genuine feeling of gratitude in their hearts, emphasizing that following bus rules and obeying the instructions of bus drivers is the ultimate way to express real gratitude to the transportation staff.
On behalf of the transportation staff, Mr. Sundar Shrestha extended his heartfelt gratitude to the school for organizing this programme in their honour. He appreciated the School Management for trusting them with the opportunity to work and wholeheartedly reaffirmed their sincere responsibility to ensure the safety of all children during their commutes to and from school. Likewise, Mr. Ramchandra Khanal noted that the transportation staff play just as significant a role in operating the school as any other department.
During the event, everyone appreciated the outstanding co-ordination role of SSO Mr. Prashant Samal, who has maintained effective communication and management of DAV’s transportation services over the years. The moderators who smoothly anchored the programme were Mr. Narayan Khatiwada, the Grade IX and X SEE In-charge and Head of the Nepali Department, alongside Mr. Purushottam Rijal, the Head of the Sanskrit Department.
