Field Visit to Jyapu Academy

Date: Nov 26th, 2025

A total of 28 students from the Mayur Dance Club visited Jyapu Academy, Patan, yesterday (24th November, 2025).
Upon their arrival, they were warmly welcomed with traditional Newari Dhime music. The group was then taken on a guided tour of the ethnic museum by Mr. Madan Maharjan from the Culture Department of Jyapu Academy.
The students observed traditional agricultural tools, attire, jatras and festivals, weapons, and various aspects of Newari culture and traditions—elements that reflect the uniqueness and richness of Newar civilisation in Nepal.
Following the museum visit, the students assembled in the auditorium, where Mr. Maharjan explained that the primary objective behind establishing Jyapu Academy is to preserve Newari culture while highlighting the historical significance of Newari civilisation.
Artists and staff of the Academy further enriched the experience by presenting a live Dhime dance performance, adding much joy to the students’ visit.
Afterwards, the students enjoyed lunch and explored the Academy’s garden before returning to school.
They were accompanied by Dance HoD Ms. Shreejana Shrestha, along with Mr. Lizendra Maharjan (Senior School Dance Teacher), Mr. Sujit Ranjitkar (Middle School dance Teacher), and Mr. Sanjay Magar (Club In-charge of Mayur Dance Club).
