DAV School celebrated the '10th International Yog Day' with great success and grandeur by engaging all the students from Nursery to Grade XII in various yog activities on June 21. The slogan for Yog Day 2024 was 'Yog for Self and Society.'
As part of the celebration, UKG students demonstrated various yog postures in Buddha Hall, while Nursery and LKG students engaged in yog activities in their classrooms.
Similarly, Grade I and II students experienced simple breathing exercises, and Grade III students enjoyed fun yog poses. Grade IV students participated in breathing exercises and pranayama in Pratik Hall.
Likewise, Grade V and VI students took part in yog-themed games involving cardio, relaxation, and body stretching. Grade VII students experienced deep relaxation and meditation, and Grade VIII and IX students participated in mass yoga practices and breathing exercises in Indu Hall.
Additionally, Grade X, XI, and XII students attended a guest lecturer and yog session with Yog Guru Shree Loknath Khanal, National Youth Co-ordinator of the Patanjali Yog Committee, in Buddha Hall. The topic was 'Yog and Wellness.' Shree Om Bansal, Treasurer of Patanjali Yog Peeth, also attended as a special guest.
During his lecture, Yog Guru discussed the benefits of drinking water upon waking, body stretching techniques, consuming easily digestible foods, and body cleansing. He also engaged students in various yoga activities, emphasizing the simplicity and profound impact of yog on health, happiness, and harmony. Shree Om Bansal demonstrated the Surya Namaskar Yog to the students.
DAV Chairperson Shree Anil Kedia, addressing the occasion, expressed his commitment to enriching yog education at the school. He extended best wishes for International Yoga Day, sharing his personal yog journey from his school days. Chairperson motivated students to do Yog everyday as it could make them wise to differentiate right from wrong.
Vice-principal Mr. Ramchandra Khanal made concluding remarks, expressing confidence that students would incorporate daily yog practice. Senior School Co-ordinator Mr. Tank Meghji Devji, Middle School Coordinator Mr. Krishna Joshi, Junior School Coordinator Mr. Andrew Fitz Patric, and Kindergarten Coordinator Shanti Gurung, supported and motivated students in various activities across different venues. The talk program was moderated by IX and X SEE In-charge Mr. Narayan Khatiwada.
The primary goal of the program was to inculcate the habit of daily yog practice among students, said Sports HoD Mr. Purnendu Ghosh. Additionally, DAV School conducts regular yog classes for students from Grade V to XII.
In celebration of World Music Day, also on June 21, students from the Natikaji Music Club gave a special presentation during the morning assembly.
