Date: Jul 11th, 2025

DAV Sushil Kedia Vishwa Bharati School marked the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima with a grand and emotionally resonant celebration on the evening of 9th July in Buddha Hall, paying homage to its revered teaching community — the true pillars of the institution. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Hon’ble Chairperson Shree Anil Kedia and the First Lady Shreemati Sunita Kedia, alongside Principal Dr. Bhubaneswari Rao, Vice-principal Mr. Ramchandra Khanal, CAO Ms. Vijaya Tater, SSO, HR Officer, wing and faculty co-ordinators, and the entire teaching and administrative staff. A highlight of the evening was the ceremonial felicitation of the Chairperson and the First Lady. The administrative team honoured them on stage with traditional khadas, bouquets, and shawls, followed by a standing ovation from the entire faculty. They were hailed as the first Gurus of DAV SKVB — visionary figures whose steadfast dedication and values have been the guiding force behind the school’s growth and excellence for over three decades. The programme commenced with a heartfelt welcome and expressions of gratitude to the educators who have tirelessly nurtured generations of learners and contributed to DAV’s global reputation. In a deeply moving address, the Principal paid tribute to the teaching fraternity, describing them as “guardians of wisdom, carriers of culture, and builders of character.” In his address, the Chairperson reflected on the noble stature of the teaching profession, asserting that it is the most respected of all. He highlighted the pivotal role of teachers in shaping individuals of character and humanity. Citing the remarkable achievements of DAV alumni across the globe, he expressed pride in the fact that many have been admitted to and are working in world-renowned institutions. He emphasised that such accomplishments would not have been possible without the unwavering commitment and values instilled by the teachers. Drawing from his vast knowledge of Hindu and Buddhist traditions, the Chairperson shared the spiritual significance of Guru Purnima and expressed particular appreciation for the 10-day Vipassana programme recently introduced at DAV, hoping for the continuation of such meaningful initiatives in the future. Reflecting on the role of educators in an increasingly dynamic world, the Principal remarked, “While machines can deliver information, only a teacher can awaken minds, nurture resilience, and shape dreams.” She underscored the indispensable human touch in education, even amid the wave of technological transformation. Quoting the timeless Sanskrit verse — “Gurur Brahma, Gurur Vishnu, Gurur Devo Maheshwara” — the Principal eloquently conveyed the spiritual and cultural reverence bestowed upon Gurus in South Asian tradition. Teachers, she affirmed, are not only academic guides but moral beacons, empathetic mentors, and silent heroes whose sacrifices often go unnoticed. She also acknowledged the increasing challenges faced by educators today — from evolving classroom dynamics to rising societal expectations — and praised their patience, perseverance, and quiet strength as the true architects of the nation’s future. Vice-principal Mr. Ramchandra Khanal also extended his best wishes to all teachers on this special day. He reiterated that DAV was founded with a noble vision and commended the teachers for transforming that vision into reality, making DAV one of the most distinguished institutions in the world. Adding to the celebratory spirit, the prestigious Star Teachers Award for the Academic Session 2024–25 was conferred upon outstanding educators who have made a significant impact on the lives of hundreds of students. Adding to this, all the teachers were honoured with a memorable gift by the School management. The evening featured captivating performances by teachers from the Kindergarten, Junior School, Middle School, Senior School, Dance Department, and Music Department. Through songs, dances, and enactments, they showcased their creative talents and deep commitment to the school community. The event concluded on an uplifting note, reminding all that every act of teaching is a seed sown for future transformation. Following the celebration, a joyous get-together and feast were organised in the school canteen, where all teachers gathered to continue the evening in fellowship and appreciation.
