New Academic Session Starts with Vidhya Subharambha Havan
Date: May 7th, 2024
DAV School orchestrated a 2-day 'Vidhya Subharambha Havan' to mark the beginning of the new academic session 2024/25 on 16th and 18th April, 2024.
During the gathering, Mr. Ramchandra Khanal, Vice-principal addressed the students, emphasizing the significance of the 'Vidya Subharambha Havan' within the school's educational framework. He underscored the school's commitment to amalgamating Vedic knowledge with modern education, following the Dayananda Anglo-Vedic model.
Newly enrolled students from Kindergarten to Grade IX and Grade XII students convened for Havan in Indu Hall on 16th April, while existing students from Grade V to X participated on 18th April. Sanskrit HOD Mr. Damodar Regmi, along with the Sanskrit Department faculty, officiated as Pundits, adhering to the rituals prescribed in the Rigved and Shukla Yajurved, in line with the Aarya Samaj traditions of Maharshi Dayananda Saraswati.
Throughout the ceremony, students and teachers actively engaged in the Havan rituals under the guidance of the pundits. Notably, Mr. Narayan Khatiwada- IX and X SEE In-charge and Mr. Krishna Joshi- Middle School Co-ordinator served as the main 'Yajaman' of Havan in Indu Sadan and Shankar Sadan, respectively on 18th April.
The Havan holds deep cultural and spiritual significance, revered for its purifying effects on both body and soul. Sanskrit scholars and scientific researches alike acknowledge its profound impact, attributing benefits ranging from spiritual enlightenment to environmental purification.
Furthermore, Maharshi Dayananda Saraswati's advocacy of Havan culture extended its influence beyond traditional settings, shaping the ethos of DAV Schools worldwide.
Numerous Sanskrit scholars have highlighted the significance of Havan, regarding it as the most profound 'karma' an individual can undertake in their lifetime. Moreover, scientific studies have consistently demonstrated that the smoke particles emitted from the 'Agni' of Havan act to neutralize toxic gases in our environment. Notably, these particles play a crucial role in replenishing the depleted ozone layer.
It's worth noting that Havan culture found its way into Western societies through the efforts of Maharshi Dayananda Saraswati, who championed the 'Dayananda Anglo-Vedic School of thought'. Consequently, DAV Schools and Colleges worldwide are rooted in his philosophical legacy.
