Chairperson Shree Anil Kedia Declares 2025 a Golden Year for DAV in Cricket at the Award Ceremony of the 2nd Jay Kumar Nath Shah Cricket Tournament, 2082

On 13th May, 2025, Chairperson Shree Anil Kedia declared the year 2025 as a golden one for DAV in the realm of cricket during the Award Distribution Ceremony of the 2nd Jay Kumar Nath Shah Cricket Tournament.
The tournament was organised by Kathmandu District Cricket Association. In his address to the students and staff, Shree Kedia expressed immense pride in reading the newspaper headlines that morning which read “DAV Wins Cricket Tournament”, despite having already known the result a day earlier. He offered heartfelt congratulations to the players and coaches, acknowledging their effort in making 2025 a landmark year for DAV’s sporting achievements since the school's inception.
Chairperson extended his sincere appreciation to Mr. Purnendu Ghosh, Head of Sports and Physical Education; Cricket Coach Mr. Dilip Yadav; and Assistant Coach Mr. Durgesh Thapa for their dedicated mentorship. He also commended Prasiddha Jaishi, Kritik Gnawali, Kamal Shahi including all the Cricket players, for raising DAV’s profile in cricket within the capital.
Meanwhile, he encouraged all students to show similar dedication, hard work, and passion in their own pursuits. In a special emphasis he noted that the discipline, attitude, and values are essential ingredients for success anywhere in the world, and urged them to uphold these values throughout their academic journey. He further emphasised DAV’s long-standing commitment to nurturing strong moral character among its students.
In similar spirit, DAV Principal Dr. Bhubaneswari Rao, Vice-principal Mr. Ramchandra Khanal, and Senior School Co-ordinator Mr. Tank Meghji Devji, along with the rest of the school leadership, praised the cricket team's victory and extended their best wishes for future success.
DAV team clinched the championship by defeating Gateway by 7 wickets in the final match held at the Lower Mulpani Cricket Ground on 12th May 2025. Their journey to the final included a 6-wicket victory over Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya in the semi-final. In the earlier stages, DAV won against Angel Academy by 53 runs, while their match against Peakpoint Academy was abandoned due to rain, with DAV having set a target of 196 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. In the opening game, they outplayed Nexus Academy, winning by 69 runs.
Prasiddha Jaishi, the captain of DAV, won the Man of the Match in three matches for his outstanding all-round performance, scoring 300 runs and claiming 8 wickets throughout the tournament. Kamal Shahi was awarded Man of the Match in the third match for his impressive four wickets and an unbeaten 29 runs off 28 balls.
For their excellent performance, DAV received a cash prize of Rs 1,50,000. Prasiddha Jaishi was awarded the Player of the Tournament trophy, a medal, and a cash prize of Rs 10,000, while Kamal Shahi received the Best Bowler Trophy and Rs 5,000 in cash.
The victorious DAV team comprised: Prasiddha Jaishi (Captain), Kamal Shahi, Aarush Jha, Prasanga Poudel, Satyam Basnet, Farhan Ansari, Ayush Sagar Patel, Saphal Adhikari, Shashank Jha, Tanish Kumar Shah, Mayank Kumar Shah, Keshav Agarwal, Prince Sah and Bikesh Kumar Jaiswal (Wicket Keeper). The Award Ceremony was compered by Mr Ghosh, Head of the Sports Department.
