
Celebration of 32nd Annual Day and Excellence Award Ceremony

DAV Sushil Kedia Vishwa Bharati School celebrated its 32nd Annual Day with great enthusiasm and fervour, showcasing the school’s rich cultural heritage and academic achievements in Buddha Hall on 9th March, 2025.
The annual function was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest, Mr. Shiva Kumar Sapkota, Joint Secretary and Spokesperson, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology; the Guest of Honour- Shree Anil Kedia, DAV Chairperson and Mr. Nim Prakash Singh Rathod, Unit Chief, Education Development and Co-ordination Unit, Lalitpur; and the Special Guest, Mr. Tara Khanal, President of PABSON, Lalitpur.
The event commenced with a warm welcome to the guests, followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. The Principal, Dr. Bhubaneswari Rao, presented the annual report, highlighting the school’s achievements during the academic session 2023/24.
The Principal remarked that the Annual Day and Excellence Award Ceremony serve as a reflection of collective success, recognition of the efforts of brilliant students and dedicated teachers, and a vision for an even brighter future for the institution. She further stated, “Annual Day is not just about awards and trophies; it is about recognising the hard work, dedication, and perseverance that our students have demonstrated throughout the year.”
She acknowledged all DAV students on this auspicious occasion, encouraging them to continue striving for excellence and believing in themselves. She emphasised that every effort made by the students is valued at DAV and that success is not just about winning but about learning and growing. The Principal also extended heartfelt gratitude to the teaching community for their dedication to education and to parents for their trust in DAV.
In her annual report, she outlined the school’s achievements in academics, particularly in the board results of Grade XII (CBSE) and Grade X (SEE and CBSE). She also highlighted success in Vedic and cultural learning, sports, arts, language, vocational training, exhibitions, dance and music, tours and field visits, as well as different awards and achievements in both scholastic and co-scholastic activities.
A key highlight of the day was the Annual Awards distribution ceremony. The dignitaries of the programme bestowed the Academic Excellence Award, Best Portfolio Award, Ekalavya Award, People Respecting Others (PRO) Award, and Read to the Principal Award to deserving students. The Annual Awards recognised students who excelled in academics, co-curricular activities, and overall growth during the 2023/24 session. A total of 329 students received the Annual Excellence Award.
Additionally, the programme featured a variety of performances that captivated the audience. The stage performances included the Sufi song "Saiyaan," Bharatnatyam and Kathak dances by Grade IX students, an international dance by Grade VI students, a Nepali dance by Grade II students, a contemporary dance by Grade VII students, and a Bollywood dance by Grade V students.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Shiva Kumar Sapkota, Joint Secretary & Spokesperson, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, shared that he had been associated with DAV School for nearly 12–15 years and had also been engaged with schools across the country in his role in the education sector.
He expressed his pleasure at being invited to such a grand programme and congratulated the award-winning and performing students. He also extended his congratulations to the parents, teachers, and school management for their contributions to the students’ success.
Mr. Sapkota was delighted to learn that hundreds of students had graduated over the past 24 years at DAV. He particularly commended DAV for its outstanding extra-curricular activities, sports, arts, and literature, stating that these aspects set DAV apart from other schools in the country, despite their efforts to excel.
He emphasised that the Ministry of Education’s primary aim is to ensure that students receive the best learning environment, which all parents and guardians desire. He congratulated DAV parents for securing one of the best learning environments for their children.
He also appreciated the role of teachers, school management, and parents in the school's continued success. As part of his address, he shared insights into effective teaching and learning techniques for both teachers and parents.
Meanwhile, he expressed his hope that the Chairperson of DAV School would establish a research unit to support a ‘Whole Education System,’ a concept that the Ministry of Education is also working on nationwide.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Vice-principal Mr. Ramchandra Khanal, who extended heartfelt gratitude to the distinguished guests and esteemed parents for taking the time to attend and support the school.
The event was attended by key school officials, including CAO Ms. Vijaya Tater, SSO Mr. Prashant Samal, Senior School Co-ordinator Mr. Tank Meghji Devji, Middle School Co-ordinator Mr. Krishna Joshi, Junior School Co-ordinator Mr. Andrew Fitz Patrick, Kindergarten Co-ordinator Ms. Shanti Gurung, and HR Mr. Ashish Rai. All of them warmly welcomed the guests and invited parents.
The moderators of the programme were Head of the English Department Ms. Asha Khadka and Senior School Science Teacher Ms. Pratikshya Nepali.
Overall, the celebration of the 32nd Annual Day was a resounding success, leaving everyone inspired and reinforcing the values of unity in diversity.
