Celebration of 211th Bhanujayanti

Devkota Nepali Club organized three different programs for Junior, Middle, and Senior schools on the occasion of the 211th Bhanujayanti on 13th and 14th July 2024. The celebration was graced by the presence of Chairperson Shree Anil Kedia, Principal Dr. Bhubaneswari Rao, and Vice-Principal Mr. Ramchandra Khanal.
Bhanubhakta Acharya, renowned as the first poet (Adikabi) of Nepali literature, made an immense contribution as a poet, writer, and translator. He is celebrated for his translation of the epic Ramayana from Sanskrit to Nepali, a masterpiece among his works. Bhanubhakta Acharya is also revered as the first Nepali teacher, honored by Nepalese worldwide.
To mark the Celebration, Devkota Nepali Club this year came up with Nepali Verse Poetry Recitation and Enactment competition.
For more details, a total of twelve students from Senior School (Grade IX and X) participated in the Competition. As per the results, Nuwan Kulung Rai from Grade X 'D' won the first position followed by Aakriti Jha- X 'D', Adwiti Jha- X 'D' and Aayushma Lamichhane from IX 'D' in the second, third and consolation positions respectively. The audience were from Grade IX 'B', X 'C' and X 'G'.
In the same trait, a total of twelve students from middle school (Grade V to VIII) participated in Nepali Verse Poetry Competition. As per the results, Seema Thakur from VII 'H' won the first position followed by Aanya Jha- VII 'H', Pragyan Adhikari- VIII 'C' and Sismak G.C.- V 'A' in the second, third and consolation positions respectively.
Likewise, from Junior School (Grade I to IV), a total of twenty students, five from each class participated in Nepali poetry competition. Among them, Samip Panthi from Grade I 'F', Aarbin Thapa from Grade II 'A', Shubhashree Khadka from Grade III 'B' and Bivuti Nepal from Grade IV 'A' won the first position in their respective class.
Vice-Principal Mr. Ramchandra Khanal interacted with the students, introducing Bhanubhakta Acharya and his contributions to Nepali language and literature. He also recited some of Bhanubhakta Acharya's beautiful poems. Additionally, Mr. Khanal provided feedback on the strengths and weaknesses of all the contestants, encouraging them to improve and build upon their strengths for future competitions.
The judges for the Poem Competition were Head of the Nepali Department Mr. Narayan Khatiwada and faculty members Ms. Bipana Karki, Ms. Geeta Shrestha, Ms. Kalpana Bhatta, and Ms. Goma Charmakar.
