2-Day Late Sushil Kedia Memorial Havan and 1-Day Pratik Sumsher JBR Memorial Havan

Date: Oct 8th, 2026

A two-day Sushil Kedia Memorial Havan was solemnized at Indu Sadan and Shankar Sadan on 7th and 8th October, 2026, marking the auspicious occasion of the 60th Birth Anniversary of late Sushil Kedia.
The event commenced with an insightful address by Mr. Ramchandra Khanal, who enlightened students on the sacred rituals and cultural significance of the havan, emphasizing the ideals of Swami Dayananda Saraswati. Conducted in accordance with Vedic tradition and Arya Samaj standards, the ceremony was led by Mr. Purushottam Rijal, Head of the Sanskrit Department, who chanted sacred mantras from the Rigveda and guided attendees through the rituals. The devotional atmosphere was further enriched by soulful hymns performed by students of the Music Department. The ceremony concluded with the distribution of tika and prasad.
Swami Dayananda Saraswati—founder of the global DAV movement—played a pivotal role in globalizing havan culture. Continuing this rich legacy, DAV regularly conducts various sacred ceremonies throughout the academic year, including the Vidya Subharambha Havan at the beginning of the academic session, the Sushil Kedia Memorial Havan, and the Good Luck Havan for Grade X students prior to their board examinations, alongside special occasion observances.
Additionally, the havan held in Pratik Hall at Shankar Sadan paid special homage to the late Pratik Sumsher Jung Bahadur Rana, a former DAV student after whom the hall is named.
