Grade IX Students Experience Democracy Firsthand in Classroom Mock Election
Date: Oct 5th, 2026
To make civic learning interactive and practical, the Social Studies Department organized a comprehensive mock election for Class 9 (Sections G and H). Guided by Social Studies educator Aakash Biswakarma as part of the "Election" chapter curriculum, the activity transformed the classroom into a dynamic polling venue, allowing students to learn through hands-on experience.
During the event, students took on various key roles—stepping up as candidates running campaigns, acting as meticulous election officials, and queueing up as active voters. Participants experienced the full spectrum of a democratic election, from casting secret ballots and managing poll safety to observing the official vote-counting process and announcing the final results.
"Understanding democracy goes beyond reading textbooks," said Biswakarma. "By stepping into the shoes of voters and officials, students directly experience how transparency, order, and civic responsibility work in practice."
By blending conceptual knowledge with experiential learning ("learning by doing"), the initiative left students with a clearer, more meaningful understanding of democratic systems and the power of every vote.
