Inter-House Poetry Recitation Competition: Day 3 of English Week 2026

William Wordsworth English Club organised an Inter-House Poetry Recitation Competition for the students of Grade V to VIII on the third day of English Week, 2026 in Jetavan Hall on August 19.
The competition was held in two categories: Grades V–VI and Grades VII–VIII. According to Club In-charge, Mr. Ganesh Poudel, the primary objective of the competition was to encourage students to enjoy and appreciate poetry by experiencing its musicality, rhythm and aesthetic beauty through oral recitation.
Students representing the six houses participated enthusiastically and showcased their confidence, expression and love for poetry on stage. The Grade V–VI category was judged by Ms. Diksha Koirala, Mr. Jonash Lepcha and Special Judge Ms. Kusum Lama.
As per the results in Grade V–VI category, Divyansh Kadel of Grade VI ‘D’ from Mt. Machapuchchhre House secured first position, while Jigyasha Baidawar of Grade V ‘G’ from Mt. Kanchanjanga House secured second position. Prakhya Aryal of Grade V ‘D’ from Mt. Dhaulagiri House secured third position.
Likewise, in Grade VII–VIII category, Kritisha Lamsal of Grade VII ‘C’ from Mt. Dhaulagiri House secured first position, followed by Shashank Jha of Grade VII ‘G’ from Mt. Kanchanjanga House in second position and Sanya Basnet of Grade VII ‘D’ from Mt. Lhotse House in third position.
In the same trait, Sworagyi Mahat of Grade V ‘B’ was selected as the special performer for the closing ceremony. The winners of both categories will also perform at the closing ceremony. Slesha Acharya and Mona Jha served as the moderators of the programme.
The winners will receive their certificates and medals during the main event, the Closing Ceremony of English Week, 2026.
