Celebrating the Victory of the U-16 Cricket Team at Home

DAV School's U-16 Cricket Team celebrated their remarkable victory in the Asian e-Learning Jay Kumar Nath Shah Memorial Inter-School U-16 Cricket Tournament at home on Friday, June 12, 2026.
The Principal Dr. Bhubaneswari Rao congratulated the players and coaches for their outstanding all-round performance and extended her blessings and best wishes for their future endeavours.
DAV School defeated Nepal Police School by seven wickets through the DLS method in the rain-affected final held on June 10. With this victory, DAV lifted the championship trophy and received a cash prize of Rs 150,000, while runners-up Nepal Police School were awarded Rs 75,000.
Chasing a target of 102 runs, DAV were 17 for 2 in 4.1 overs when rain interrupted play on Tuesday. The match resumed on Wednesday and was reduced to 12 overs, with DAV being set a revised target of 70 runs under the DLS method. The defending champions successfully completed the chase in 10.5 overs for the loss of three wickets.
Arush Jha remained unbeaten on 26 runs off 30 balls, including three boundaries, while Biraj Jaiswal added 22 runs from 23 deliveries. For Nepal Police School, Priyanshu Kishor Raut and Sunil Thakur claimed one wicket each.
Earlier, Nepal Police School had posted 101 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs. Mohammad Abbas Safi top-scored with an unbeaten 33 runs, while Shyam Babu Thakur and Ashutosh Mishra contributed 12 and 10 runs respectively. DAV's Kamal Shahi delivered an impressive spell of 4 wickets for 11 runs, while Kunjan Acharya and Prasiddha Jaishi picked up two wickets each. Kamal Shahi was named the Pick Point Player of the Match.
DAV's Prasiddha Jaishi, who amassed 273 runs and claimed seven wickets during the tournament, was declared the Player of the Tournament. His teammate Kunjan Acharya received the Best Bowler award for taking 13 wickets. Rajdeep Acharya of Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya won the Best Batter award with 239 runs in four matches, while GEMS School's Swaraj Chaulagain was named the Emerging Player after scoring 103 runs and taking 12 wickets.
A total of 24 teams participated in the tournament organised by the Kathmandu District Cricket Association. Cricket Association of Nepal Secretary Paras Khadka and KDCA President Diwakar Ghale, among others, presented the prizes to the winners.
