Inter-House English Debate Competition on Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Language Teaching

Wordsworth English Club organised an Inter-House English Debate Competition for the students of Grades IX and X in Jetavan Hall on May 26.
The competition aimed at enhancing critical thinking, persuasive communication, and public speaking skills. According to Club In-charge Mr. Ganesh Poudel, the competition encouraged participants to express their opinions confidently and logically on contemporary issues.
Representatives from six houses participated in the competition, with two students from each house speaking either for or against the motion. The topic of the debate was “Artificial Intelligence can replace language teachers in the future.” The participants enthusiastically presented their arguments and viewpoints, making the competition both informative and engaging.
Ms. Shreejana Bajracharya and Ms. Diksha Koirala served as the judges for the event. As per the results, Prachur Dhakal of Grade X ‘D’ from Mt. Dhaulagiri House secured the first position. Swostika Shah of Grade IX ‘H’ from Mt. Lhotse House achieved the second position, while Suryanshu Jha of Grade X ‘D’ from Mt. Kanchanjanga House secured the third position. Agrim Adhikari of Grade X ‘H’ from Mt. Gaurishankar House stood fourth in the competition. Certificates to the participants and winners will be distributed soon.
The moderators of the programme were Slesha Pritam Acharya-President of the Wordsworth Club, and Sofiya Baniya- Club Secretary. Pranav Jha- Vice-President of the Club delivered vote of thanks.
