Celebration of the 33rd Annual Day and Excellence Award Ceremony: Chairperson Acknowledges the Invaluable Role of Parents in Students’ Success

DAV School celebrated its 33rd Annual Day and Excellence Award Ceremony with grandeur and success in Buddha Hall yesterday (22nd December, 2025)
On this auspicious occasion, the School conferred 464 Annual Excellence Awards across different categories, in alignment with the theme ‘EACH’ – Empowering Academic Excellence, Cultural Sensitivity and Holistic Well-being of the Students, the academic vision of the Principal, Dr. Bhubaneswari Rao.
The celebration was graced by the Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, Mr. Chiribabu Maharjan, as the Chief Guest. Mr. RB Katwal, General Secretary of PABSON, attended as the Guest of Honour, while Mr. Gyanendra Malla, former Captain of the National Cricket Team and currently serving as a National Team Coach, was present as the Special Guest. Chairperson of DAV School, Shree Anil Kedia, along with the management team, extended a warm welcome to all distinguished guests and parents.
The primary objective of the Annual Day was to acknowledge and celebrate the school’s achievements during the academic session 2024–25, under the guiding theme ‘EACH’. The formal programme commenced with Ganesh Vandana, followed by the welcoming of guests and parents, ceremonial lighting of the lamp in tribute to the founding pillars of the institution, rendition of the National Anthem, and a welcome address by Junior School Co-ordinator, Mr. Andrew Fitz Patrick.
The celebration unfolded across two distinct yet harmonious dimensions: a vibrant cultural showcase highlighting the rich traditions of DAV School, and the felicitation of student achievers from diverse fields. As part of the cultural programme, senior school students presented ‘A Journey of DAV through Tradition and Transformation’ as the welcome act. This was followed by graceful Bharatanatyam and Kathak performances by senior students, which have earned DAVSKVB widespread recognition in the country. The programme also featured English song by Grade VI students, a thematic dance by Grade V students, English dance by kindergarten students, a Nepali dance by Grade IV students, and concluded with an energetic Bollywood dance by Grade VI students.
The much-anticipated award ceremony was conducted in the august presence of the distinguished guests, DAV Chairperson, Vice-principal and Chief Administrative Officer. The awards conferred were as follows:
Academic Excellence Award: 101 students (Nursery to Grade XII)
Best Portfolio Award: 100 students (Nursery to Grade XII)
Ekalavya Award: 100 students (Nursery to Grade XII)
Sports Star Award: 20 students (Grade III to XII)
Chairman Gold Star Award: 104 students (UKG to Grade XII), including 13 students specially honoured as Class Toppers
Read to the Principal Award: 37 students (Grade I to XI)
Alma Mater Award: Conferred upon alumni Er. Manish Mallick and Er. Dikshya Golyan
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Mr. Chiribabu Maharjan congratulated the award recipients and performers, and commended the school for organising such a meaningful celebration. He extended his appreciation to Chairperson Shree Anil Kedia, Principal Dr. Bhubaneswari Rao, Vice-principal Mr. Ramchandra Khanal, CAO Ms. Vijaya Tater, and the entire administrative team for their effective leadership and management. Sharing reflections from his own educational journey, he once again congratulated DAV School for the outstanding GPA 4.0 results of four students in SEE 2082 BS.
In a similar vein, the Guest of Honour, Mr. RB Katwal, congratulated the awardees and performers, highlighting DAV School’s significant role in delivering education of international standards. He underscored the importance of cultural values in today’s educational landscape and wholeheartedly appreciated the school for successfully bridging this vital gap.
In his address, Chairperson Shree Anil Kedia expressed sincere gratitude to the esteemed guests and the parents community. He congratulated all award winners and cultural performers, and encouraged all the students to continue their pursuit of excellence with honesty, integrity and discipline. Extending his best wishes, he looked forward to the 34th Annual Day celebration. He described the Annual Day as the heartbeat of the academic year and elaborated on the rigorous selection process for the Chairman Gold Star Award, which is based on academic performance, character, punctuality, humility and integrity. He particularly acknowledged parents, emphasising that all awards, including the Chairman Gold Star Award, equally belong to them for their invaluable role in shaping their children’s success behind the scenes.
Reflecting on the achievements of alumni such as Er. Golyan, currently associated with Nvidia Company, and Er. Mallick, serving at the ninth level at Nepal Telecom, alongside numerous students excelling in engineering, medical and management fields, Chairperson affirmed that DAV School’s principles and pedagogical practices are firmly on the right path. On the occasion, a video message from Er. Golyan was screened. Her mother was there to receive the honour. Alumnus Er. Mallick was present to receive the honour.
The programme was attended by Human Resources Manager Mr. Ashish Rai, SSO Mr. Prashant Samal, Senior School Co-ordinator Mr. Tank Meghji Devji, Middle School Co-ordinator Mr. Krishna Joshi, Junior School Co-ordinator Mr. Andrew Fitz Patrick, Kindergarten Co-ordinator Ms. Shanti Gurung, along with all the Heads of Departments, who collectively extended warm hospitality to the guests and parents.
The event was gracefully moderated by Ms. Asha Khadka (HOD English), Ms. Pratikshya Nepali (Senior School Teacher), Mr. Surchen Shah (Middle School Activity In-charge) and Mr. Shyam Lal Das (Middle School Teacher).
