
Classical Evening with Raag and Taal and Annual Award Ceremony

Sushila Arts Academy, in collaboration with DAV School, organised a Classical Evening of Raag and Taal along with the Annual Award Ceremony of Prayaag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad, on 17th August at the school premises.
The event was graced by Ms. Yulia Koirala, Founder of Sushila Arts Academy, Dr. Bhubaneswari Rao, the Principal of DAVSKVB School, and Shashi Ji Ramesh from Prayaag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad, India. The presence of Ms. Anju Bhattarai, Founder Principal of Akshara School, and actress Ms. Niti Shah from the Nepali Film Industry added charm to the occasion. Vice-principal Mr. Ramchandra Khanal, CAO Ms. Vijaya Tater, along with school authorities and teachers, warmly welcomed the invited guests, parents and well-wishers.
The cultural programme began with Raag Bhupali, followed by the national anthem and a welcome speech delivered by Ms. Yulia Koirala. Students then presented a variety of performances, including a Kathak group dance, a Bharatnatyam group dance by beginners, a duet song, a solo Bharatnatyam performance by Jiya Jha, a Bharatnatyam dance by Grade IV students, a solo Kathak performance, a vocal solo Naam Gum Jaayega, a Bharatnatyam dance by senior students, and a special Bharatnatyam solo by the guest artist from India.
The highlight of the evening was the Annual Award Distribution Ceremony. Certificates were presented to students pursuing the Diploma Course of Prayaag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad, India. The students who completed the first-year Diploma Course were Sambridhi Giri, Mona Mishra, Arshiya Poudel, Aarohi Devkota, Samyukta Thapa, Sadira Thapa, Anushka Bhansali, Chahat Rakhecha, Shanaya Agrawal, Hemakshi Agarwal and Shambhavi Basyal.
Students who completed both the first and second-year Diploma Courses were also honoured. They were Prashreka Dangol, Rasuka Dangol, Rihansee Mehta, Manasweenee Raut, Nibha Dangol, Anushree Karki, Nidhi Das, Ananyaa Risal, Minoli Karki, Pragalva Luitel, Aanya Jha, Ananya Gupta, Ganga Nahata, Khushi Goyal, Ruparna Dey and Vedanshi Kedia.
In addition, Anaya Singh, Jiya Jha and Ananya Singh were recognised for successfully completing three years of the Diploma Course. Ms. Shreejana Shrestha, Dance HOD of DAV School, guest artist Shashi Ji Ramesh, and the teachers of Sushila Arts Academy associated with DAVSKVB School were also felicitated with tokens of love and appreciation.
The evening also included a competition. In the dance category, Jiya Jha won first place, followed by Rasuka Dangol as first runner-up and Anya Jha as second runner-up. In the Kathak category, Lavya Nidhi secured first place, with Krishma Shrestha and Sayamta Budhathoki as first and second runner-up respectively. In the vocal category, Hanaa Maharjan was declared the winner, while Preetishree Shrestha and Rihana Mangranti won the first and second runner-up positions. All winners were honoured with trophies and certificates. The first position winners in each category were specially recognised with a one-year scholarship.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Middle School Co-ordinator Mr. Krishna Joshi. The moderators of the programme were Prince Agrawal and Angel Bajaj of Grade XII ‘C’.
