World Earth Day Activities and Competitions 2025

Date: Apr 23rd, 2025

On the occasion of World Earth Day 2025, students of DAV School actively participated in a series of activities and competitions on April 22. These events were organised in alignment with the school’s theme “EACH” and the global theme for the year, “Our Power, Our Earth.”
The activities and competitions were coordinated by the respective activity in-charges, from the Junior to Senior School levels, in collaboration with the Vasudha Eco Club. As a part of the awareness initiatives, Vasudha Eco Club conducted a special morning assembly for the Senior School, which included thought-provoking messages to raise awareness about environmental issues.
One of the key highlights of the World Earth Day was a cycle rally involving 35 students from the middle and senior school. The rally began at the school’s Gate No. 2 and passed through notable landmarks such as Ganeshthan, St. Mary’s Chowk, Damkal Chowk, Kaan Devata Chowk, Thado Dhunga (Big Mart), Sanepa CG Chowk, Heritage Garden road, and Jhamsikhel road, eventually concluding at Gate No. 1 of the school.
In the Junior School, Grade I and II students enthusiastically took part in a hand printing activity, while students of Grade III and IV expressed their creativity in a poster-making competition. Additionally, all Junior School students were shown a documentary film aligned with Earth Day themes to enhance their understanding of environmental conservation.
In the Middle School, Grade V students engaged in a hands-on activity to grow seeding in cotton, gaining insights into the germination process. Grade VI students took part in a drawing competition focused on the Earth Day theme, while Grade VII created posters, and Grade VIII students watched an educational movie tailored to their level of comprehension.
At the Senior School level, Grade IX students designed and explained global unity flags or logos on paper, creatively expressing their ideas. Grade X students participated in a debate competition, with two representatives from each section presenting arguments on the topic, “Will a Zero Waste Society Ever be Possible?” Meanwhile, Grade XII students showcased their research and presentation skills in a PowerPoint presentation competition based on the theme “Our Power, Our Planet,” with two teams from each section participating. In total, 20 students competed in this event.
The school also introduced common programmes for all students from Nursery to Grade XII. These included a green lunch initiative, a classroom cleanliness inspection, and a 30-minute power cut programme observed from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m.
Overall, the World Earth Day successfully instilled a sense of environmental responsibility and awareness among the students. Winners of all the competitions will soon be awarded certificates of achievement in recognition of their efforts.
