Achievers of English Week Honoured in School Assemblies

The Department of English, in collaboration with William Wordsworth English Club, organised English Week, a series of creative and enriching competitions and activities for middle school students, starting on 1st September, 2024. The grand closing ceremony is scheduled to take place in Buddha Hall on 5th September 2024 (tomorrow).
The English Week programme is the brainchild of Dr. Bhubaneswari Rao, the Principal of DAV. Since its launch, she has been actively brainstorming and formatting the programme for both the senior and middle schools.
The celebrations, designed for Grades V to VIII students, saw full participation in nearly all the competitions. Events held during the week included an Inter-house Monologue Competition, Inter-house Bio Speech Competition, Intra-section Poetry Writing, Inter-house Poetry Recitation Competition, Inter-club Debate Competition, Intra-section Handwriting Competition, Intra-section Story Writing Competition, Intra-section Essay Writing Competition, Intra-Section Pictorial Story Writing Competition, and an Inter-house Skit Competition, among others.
On 3rd September, Dr. Bibhuti Nath Mishra, an Orthopedic Specialist at Grande International Hospital presented Certificates of Achievement to the winners of the competitions held on September 1. These events included an Intra-section Essay Writing Competition for Grades V and VI, an Intra-section Handwriting Competition for Grades VII and VIII, an Inter-house Bio Speech Competition for Grades V to VIII, and an Inter-house Monologue Competition for Grades V to VIII.
Similarly, on 4th September, Ms. Asha Thapaliya, a programme producer at Nepal Television honoured the winners of the competitions held on 2nd and 3rd September during the morning assembly. The competitions on 2nd September included an Inter-house Skit Competition for Grades V to VIII, an Intra-section Poetry Writing Competition for Grades VII and VIII, an Intra-section Story Writing Competition for Grades V and VI, and an Inter-class Poetry Recitation Competition for Grades V to VIII.
Similarly, the competitions on 3rd September featured an Inter-house Poetry Recitation Competition for Grades V to VIII, an Intra-class Poetry Writing Competition for Grades V and VI, and an Intra-class Pictorial Essay Writing Competition for Grades VII and VIII.
The Inter-club Debate Competition was held on 4th September, and the winners were immediately awarded Certificates of Achievement after the event. On the same day, students from Grades V and VI attended an educational English video screening in Buddha Hall.
The English Week is an annual event of the school. It aimed at enhancing students' proficiency in English language and literature, enabling them to express their ideas, generates thoughts, and introduces themselves to the global community. The judges for the competitions were English language teachers.
Overall, English Week for middle school was a tremendous success. The invited guests, Dr. Mishra and Ms. Thapaliya, along with Vice-Principal Mr. Ramchandra Khanal, congratulated all the winners and expressed their hope for similar enthusiasm in the coming years during the award ceremony.
On behalf of the English Department, Head of Department Ms. Asha Khadka extended heartfelt gratitude to the guests for sparing their valuable time for DAVSKVB School and expressed hope for continued support in the future.
