13th Sushil Kedia Memorial Inter School Table Tennis Tournament

The 13th Sushil Kedia Memorial Inter School Table Tennis Tournament, 2024 was held on 30th to 31st August on the auspicious occasion of 57th Birth Anniversary of Late Shree Sushil Kedia.
A total of 21 schools participated in the tournament. The competition was organised separately for boys and girls in individual and team categories for Under-12 and Under-16 age groups.
In the Boys’ Under-12 Singles category, Arnab Shrestha from Shristi School secured first place, followed by Reevan Bajracharya from DAV in second place. Arthabid Bhatta from AVM and Nirvana Bajracharya from DAV shared the third position.
In the Girls’ Under-12 Singles category, Shyra Shakya from AVM clinched first place, with Angela Chhetri, also from AVM, taking second place. Yoomana Khadka from United School and Aarohi Gurung from Swostishree Gurukul shared the third position.
In the Boys’ Under-16 Singles category, Prajil Bhattarai from AVM School emerged victorious, with Sworam Shakya, also from AVM, as the runner-up. Agreem Aachaju from United School and Bachan Bista from Bhassara School shared the third position.
In the Girls’ Under-16 Singles category, Arsana Maharjan from AVM School claimed first place, while Tayabuhgma Rai, also from AVM, secured second place. Agrata Bista from Swostishree Gurukul and Pritam Jha from DAV shared the third position.
In the Boys’ Team event, AVM School won first place, followed by DAV in second place, with Shristi Academy and United School sharing third place.
In the Girls’ Team event, AVM School again took first place, with LA School securing second place, while Modern Indian School and United School shared third place.
Special titles were also awarded during the closing ceremony. Summer Maharjan from Kavya School was honoured with the Best Player Award in the boys’ category, while H. Meera Bohara from Hill Town International School received the Best Player Award in the girls’ category.
Aarav Shrestha from Sanskriti International School won the Rising Player Award in the boys’ category, and Akshadha Bista from Swostishree Gurukul was recognised with the Rising Player Award in the girls’ category.
According to Mr. Sanjay Aryal, the Table Tennis Coach at DAV School, other participating schools that contributed to the success of the tournament included VS Niketan, Akshara School, Pushpasadan, Bal Bikash School, Ideal Model School, Sampada School, Delight Kindergarten High School, NCCS, Rai International School, and United Universal School.
The tournament was officiated by six national umpires, including Mr. Roshan Adhikari, Ms. Sansu Aryal, Mr. Roshan Chaulagain, Mr. Santosh Rai, and Mr. Agra Bista.
The winners in both team and individual events were awarded trophies, medals, and merit certificates by Middle School Coordinator Mr. Krishna Joshi, in the presence of Sports HoD Mr. Purnendu Ghosh and Senior School Activity In-charge Mr. Tankanath Ghimire.
Overall, AVM School dominated the tournament, winning first place in both individual and team events. The tournament witnessed the participation of more than 200 students.
