
Celebration of World Environment Day, 2024 (KG to Grade XII)

DAV School enthusiastically joined the global celebration of World Environment Day on June 5, 2024, with a series of engaging and educational activities for students from KG to Grade XII.
The celebration began with the Vasudha Eco Club assembly in Senior School. Shree Anil Kedia, Chairperson and Dr. Bhubaneswari Rao, the Principal, participated in a tree plantation programme with the Vasudha Eco Club executive team, signifying their support to awareness initiatives.
This year's theme, "Land Restoration for Drought Resilience," was woven into a variety of hands-on learning experiences aimed at deepening students' understanding and commitment to environmental sustainability.
In the senior school, Grade IX students participated in a cleanliness drive at Saraswati Temple. Grade X students attended a notable guest lecture from Dr. Shalu Adhikari, a Climate Change Specialist, Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), alongside Communication Officer Mr. Suman Giri, in Buddha Hall.
Grade XI students visited Manjushree Park in Chovar, Kathmandu, for environmental studies, and Grade XII students attended a guest lecture by fashion and sustainability entrepreneur Ms. Nasana Bajracharya.
In the middle school, Grade VIII students learnt composting and rainwater harvesting from Mr. Surchen Shah. Grade VII students took part in an essay writing competition on land restoration, and Grades V and VI students watched a documentary video, 'Sustainable Land Management'. Additionally, Grade V students participated in a drawing competition on the benefits of native plants.
In the junior school, Grade IV students engaged in art and craft activities, while Grade III students participated in a storytelling session on land and water conservation. Grade II students joined a plantation program, and Grade I students watched videos on land restoration for drought resilience.
Kindergarten students enjoyed coloring and printing activities on environment day theme and were taken for plant watering session.
Prior to these events, the parents were informed in advance and encouraged to motivate their children to participate, fostering a culture of environmental awareness and responsibility.
