'From Big Bang to Black Hole' a Talk Programme
Date: Jun 9th, 2023
Newton Science Club organised a talk a programme on the topic, 'From Big Bang to Black Hole' for Grade VII and VIII students in Buddha Hall on June 2.
Mr. Shovan Bhandari, Club In-charge of Newton Science Club made around 1 hour presentation and attempted his best to meet the learning need of the children.
As a part of his presentation, he interacted with the students and introduced Black Hole and Big Bang Theory along with contributing scientists among the students.
The students were much interested in the big bang theory and asked why Big Bang Theory has been the interesting topic for study and research at present.
The students were also screened a short video related with Big Bang and Black Hole during the talk programme.
The key objective of the programme was to enrich science knowledge of the students and develop interest in learning science to all types of learners.
Speaker: Shovan Bhandari
The speaker in the talk program was the Club Incharge, Mr. Shovan Bhandari. The talk program was on the topic "From Big Bang to Black Holes".
The speaker talked about the concept of the big bang theory and the future of the universe in the first half of the talk show. In the second half, the concept of space-time and gravity with reference to black holes was discussed. The discoveries of scientists from Issac Newton to Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking relating to the topics were also discussed. There was also a practical video presented on the concept of space-time fabric and its warping that is responsible for the existence of gravitational force in nature.
The students showed keen enthusiasm and active participation on the contents presented and questions asked during the talk show. The students also showed their enthusiasm in asking questions, but because of time constraint, only 5 questions were taken. The talk show was conducted in two shifts separately for grades V-VI and then for grades VII-VIII students. Each shift had two sessions:
Session I: Big bang and the future of our universe
Session II: About space-time and gravity with black holes
Each session lasted for about 35 minutes in total.
The anchor and the resource person of the talk program was the club incharge of Newton Science Club, Mr. Shovan Bhandari. The talk program was coordinated by Middle School Activity Incharge, Mr. Surchen Shah. The Science teachers and the class teachers of grade V to VIII also coordinated in making the program successful.
