Today, I stand before you to speak a very special and sacred occasion – Janki Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Goddess Sita.
Janki Jayanti is celebrated to mark the birth of Goddess Sita, who is also lovingly called Janaki, the daughter of King Janak of Mithila. She is one of the most respected and inspiring figures in Hindu culture and the epic Ramayana. Yet, it is surprising that this festival is so underrated, even though Sita mata represented values that are deeply meaningful even today.
Goddess Sita is the symbol of purity, patience, courage, compassion, dignity and inner strength. Throughout her life, she faced many hardships, but she never gave up her principles. She showed the world what true strength looks like – not power, not anger, but calmness, resilience, and moral courage.
In today’s fast-moving world, where stress, competition and negativity surround us, the teachings of Goddess Sita remind us to stay kind, balanced and strong from within.
On this auspicious occasion of Janki Jayanti, let us not only remember her but also try to apply her values in our daily lives – in our thoughts, words and action. Let us spread awareness about this beautiful day so that more people can understand and appreciate the greatness of Goddess Sita.
