DAV Sushil Kedia Vishwa Bharati School organised its annual Investiture Ceremony for the Senior School (Grade IX to XII) at the school campus in Jawalakhel yesterday (9th June, 2026).
The formal event marked the official induction and badging of the newly elected Student Council and executive house and club members for the academic session 2026–27.
The ceremony commenced with the traditional welcoming of the Chief Guest, Mr. Gautam Mishra, Superintendent of Police (SP) from the Lalitpur Police Range. This was followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and the rendition of the national anthem. Invited parents were then treated to a vibrant patriotic dance performance before the formal transition of student leadership began.
The Oath and Handing Over of Command
During the core proceedings, the school and house flags were officially handed over to the incoming Head Boy, Head Girl, and House Captains by the Principal Dr. Bhubaneswari Rao and the newly appointed House In-charges. Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest SP Gautam Mishra delivered an inspiring speech to the newly elected student leaders, wishing them success on their journey ahead. He placed special emphasis on self-discipline, motivating students to preserve the dignity and respect of their parents and school by seeking and following their advice.
SP Mishra also expressed gratitude to the school management for inviting the Jawalakhel Police Office to such a promising occasion, noting that the Lalitpur Police Range has always co-ordinated closely with DAV as part of its Police-Public-Partnership programme.
Following the Chief Guest's address, the newly inducted Senior School Head Boy delivered his formal speech, outlining the student council’s vision for the academic year. The celebratory atmosphere was further enriched by a traditional Nepali dance performance, after which the executive members of all 17 school clubs took their oaths and received their leadership badges.
Three Decades of Shaping Responsible Citizens
Speaking at the event, DAV Chairperson Shree Anil Kedia noted that the Investiture Ceremony is an important day in students' lives. Reflecting on the institution's legacy, he took parents, teachers, and students back 30 years to when DAV first pioneered its leadership education programme in Nepal, a time when such initiatives were not visible in the country.
Shree Anil Kedia stated, "Students have enormous energy inside them, and it is the role of educators to channelize it in the right direction so that it ultimately makes them responsible human being". He highlighted that DAV is the first school in Nepal to introduce a well-functioning club system, which has brought about a positive transformation in students' lives. He further added, "With these Student Councils, Prefects, Houses, and Clubs, students learn vital leadership qualities, networking, and communication skills—all of which are essential to succeed in any walks of life." Chairperson also emphasized that the core disciplines and moral values prioritized by DAV are the ultimate pillars that ensure a dignified life in any professional sphere.
