Principal Presents Bold Vision of “Empower, Engage and Excel” at Orientation Meeting with Two-Year Academic Roadmap

The Principal Dr. Bhubaneswari Rao, delivered an insightful and comprehensive presentation during the Orientation General Meeting held at Buddha Hall, DAV Complex, Jawalakhel, on 3rd April. The presentation outlined the school’s academic vision, innovative programmes, and holistic development plans for the academic session 2026–27.
In her address, the Principal highlighted the school’s guiding theme, “Empower, Engage and Excel,” which aims to foster intellectual growth, emotional development, and a culture of excellence across all areas of learning. She remarked that DAV strives to nurture global citizens rooted in Vedic values while equipping them with the skills required to face the challenges of the 21st century.
Focus on the Theme: Empower, Engage and Excel
Explaining the deeper significance of the theme, the Principal stated that Empower focuses on strengthening knowledge, critical thinking, and innovation; Engage promotes values, empathy, and emotional well-being; while Excel inspires students to achieve their highest potential through continuous learning and self-improvement.
She further elaborated on the school’s E3 (Triple E) Model, which aims at empowering minds, engaging hearts, and inspiring excellence through a balanced blend of academic, co-curricular, and value-based education.
Academic Innovation and 21st Century Learning
The Principal also presented several academic initiatives designed to promote inquiry-based learning, research projects, STEM education, coding, robotics, and interdisciplinary learning. Special emphasis was given to reading programmes, writing workshops, innovation fairs, Olympiad preparation, and participation in inter-school competitions.
She further stressed the importance of developing essential 21st century skills such as critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication through debates, public speaking platforms, exhibitions, and student-led initiatives.
Technology Integration in Education
The presentation also reflected the school’s strong commitment to digital learning through smart classrooms, designated tablet and laptop learning days, and cyber safety awareness programmes. The Principal emphasised the responsible use of technology and the importance of preparing students for an increasingly digital world.
Value Education and Student Well-being
A significant part of the presentation focused on emotional well-being, character development, and value education. The Principal highlighted various initiatives aimed at fostering empathy, kindness, discipline, and social responsibility through community service, peer mentoring, mindfulness practices, and mental health awareness programmes.
She also underlined the importance of inclusive education practices to ensure that every learner receives equal opportunities for growth and development.
Teacher Development and Quality Education
Emphasising that quality education is built upon the foundation of quality teaching, the Principal spoke about the school’s continuous efforts towards teachers’ professional development. These include regular training workshops, collaborative learning practices, classroom observations, and digital capacity-building programmes aimed at enhancing teaching effectiveness.
Co-curricular Excellence and Sports Development
Highlighting the importance of co-curricular engagement, the Principal spoke about structured opportunities in music, dance, visual arts, student clubs, and leadership platforms. She also elaborated on the school’s sports programmes, including inter-house competitions, fitness initiatives, and the Annual Sports Meet, all designed to promote teamwork, discipline, and healthy lifestyles.
Recognition of Student Achievements
The presentation also showcased the school’s recognition system, including Academic Excellence Awards, Character Awards, Sports Awards, and leadership honours, which serve to motivate students and celebrate their accomplishments.

Concluding her presentation, the Principal emphasised the importance of strong collaboration among students, teachers, parents, and the school leadership in achieving educational excellence. She reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to nurturing confident, compassionate, and responsible learners who are well prepared for future challenges.
The presentation provided teachers and staff with a clear understanding of the school’s academic roadmap for the new session and reflected DAV’s unwavering commitment to holistic, value-based, and future-ready education guided by its inspiring theme, “Empower, Engage and Excel.”
Chairperson’s Address
Addressing the orientation programme, DAV Chairperson Shree Anil Kedia extended his best wishes to the management team and the teaching fraternity for the academic session 2026–27.
In his brief yet motivating address, he remarked that the best teachers are those who learn more than they teach. He wholeheartedly appreciated the programmes presented by the Principal and expressed confidence that the academic initiatives planned for the session would meet the needs and expectations of the evolving educational landscape of the country.
He also reflected on the paradigm shift in education from his early years as a student to his 33-year journey as the Chairperson of DAV Schools and Colleges, with particular emphasis on evaluation systems and activity-based learning.
Among the many academic initiatives, he especially appreciated the intensive multiplication table/maths challenges, public speaking initiatives, applied peer learning, oral assessments, viva examinations, the PPST programme, the Daily Discipline Index, Portfolio Day, exam readiness programmes, drama and skits, robotics, coding and AI education, as well as structured Social-Emotional Learning programmes. He also warmly welcomed the newly appointed teachers and expressed his expectations for impactful teaching outcomes.
Vice-Principal’s Remarks
Vice-principal Mr. Ramchandra Khanal noted that the education system has undergone significant changes over time, and that the expectations of parents are also evolving. In this context, he expressed his confidence that the DAV teaching fraternity would continue to demonstrate leadership in fulfilling these responsibilities, as they have consistently done in previous years.
He further emphasised that the philosophy propounded by Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati over 140 years ago remains equally relevant today and will continue to guide education in the future. He also noted that the Principal’s presentation, supported by important references from the Chairperson, presented a forward-looking vision of education for the next 20–30 years.
He also appreciated the Chairperson for establishing such a remarkable institution that serves a large number of families and assured that the entire administrative team, teachers, and staff remain committed to realizing the academic vision of the Chairperson and the Principal in the years ahead.
