Date: Dec 12th, 2025

The Primary Wing of DAV School organised the much-awaited Mental Maths Masters Tables Quiz Competition for the students of Grades I to IV in the gracious presence of DAV SKVB Chairperson, Shree Anil Kedia, and Junior School Co-ordinator, Mr. Andrew Fitz Patrick.
The competition was conducted in two levels—one for Grade III and IV, and another for Grade I and II. It comprised four stimulating rounds: Mental Maths, Rapid Fire, Brain-Teaser, and Beat the Clock. The quiz was efficiently organised by teachers Ms. Eni Subba, Ms. Anupama Shrestha, Ms. Anupama Limbu and Ms. Sunny Thapa. Students from all classes within the Primary Wing participated with great enthusiasm.
In preparation for this event, two preliminary mathematical table quiz contests had been held in the same auditorium, complemented by several in-class table quizzes across the Junior School. Under the guidance of DAV Chairperson, Shree Anil Kedia, and his management team, the Junior School rigorously organised these activities immediately after the festive holidays. As a result, all students have demonstrated significant proficiency in multiplication tables and level-appropriate multiplication challenges.
Chairperson Shree Anil Kedia expressed immense delight at witnessing junior school student confidently reciting tables up to 25. He extended his gratitude to the Co-ordinator for inviting him to the programme. Addressing the students, the Chairperson encouraged students to learn Mathematics at the right age, emphasising that foundational mathematical skills cannot be acquired effectively later in life. He highlighted the importance of mathematics in daily life, remarking that “if you know Mathematics, you know half of the world.” He further noted that excellence in fields such as Management, Computer Science and Chartered Accountancy is rooted in strong mathematical ability.
He also suggested Junior School Co-ordinator, Mr. Andrew Fitz Patrick, to conduct this programme annually in different phase so that students may continue to develop a genuine interest in learning Mathematics.
The quiz proved to be highly engaging for both participants and the audience. Quiz Masters Ms. Eni Subba and Ms. Anupama Limbu posed several audience-based questions, who responded with remarkable accuracy. As a gesture of appreciation, Chairperson Shree Anil Kedia encouraged students further by presenting Dairy Milk chocolates to all contestants and audience members who answered correctly including to all audience students who attempted to answer the questions asked to them.
As per the results, Mt. Lhotse House secured the first position in Grade III and IV category, while Mt. Annapurna House claimed first place in the Grade I and II category. All winners will soon be honoured with Certificates of Achievement. Junior School Activity In-charge Ms. Anusha Rana was there for the effective conduction of the programme.
