DAV School proudly unveiled the official costume of its beloved mascot, DAFFEY, during a grand ceremony held at the school premises yesterday (22nd January 2025). This momentous occasion coincided with the inauguration of the Indo-Nepal T-20 Cricket Academy Tournament.
The dual celebrations were graced by Chairperson Shree Anil Kedia, Principal Dr. Bhubaneswari Rao, and Vice-Principal Mr. Ramchandra Khanal and CAO Ms. Vijaya Tater who officially launched DAFFEY and announced the upcoming cricket tournament. The Indo-Nepal T-20 Cricket Academy Tournament will take place at the Mulpani Cricket Ground from 26th to 31st January, 2025.
Addressing the audience, Chairperson Shree Anil Kedia warmly welcomed DAFFEY as a new and cherished member of the DAV School family. He expressed immense pride in introducing the school's first mascot, a historic milestone for the country. Highlighting the importance of sports in education, he emphasised how physical activities contribute to students' overall growth and promised to prioritise their health and intelligence through such initiatives. Furthermore, he announced exciting plans to transform the school's main ground into a lush green space in the near future.
Principal Dr. Bhubaneswari Rao also shared her enthusiasm, describing DAFFEY as an integral member of the Sports Department. She underscored the day’s historic significance, noting that the launch of both the mascot and the Indo-Nepal Cricket Academy Battles marked a proud moment for the school and the community.
As a part of the ceremony, DAFFEY was welcomed with traditional bouquets and khada by the Chairperson, Principal, Vice-Principal, and a group of student representatives. The students were thrilled to witness the much-anticipated reveal of DAFFEY's costume and enjoyed an entertaining live performance by the mascot. Excitement filled the air as they cheered, took photographs, and celebrated this memorable occasion.
The event was moderated by Ms. Asha Khadka, Head of the English Department, and Mr. Santosh Rai, a Middle School teacher, who also accompanied DAFFEY on its journey from New Delhi to Kathmandu.
