DAV School Celebrates Bastille Day with French Language Orientation and French Quiz Challenge

Date: Jul 21st, 2026

The Department of Foreign Languages at DAV School celebrated the National Day of France (Bastille Day) on 15th July by organising a French Language Orientation Programme and French Quiz Challenge.
The event was graced by Ms. Elsa Calley, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of France to Nepal, as the Chief Guest, and Mr. Sylvain Choin, Director of Alliance Française de Katmandou, as the Guest of Honour. The programme began with a warm welcome for the guests, the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, the national anthems of Nepal and France, and a welcome address by Mr. Sabin Shakya, Head of the Department of Foreign Languages at DAV School.
During the orientation session, DAV students gave an informative presentation on the importance and benefits of learning the French language. The distinguished guests encouraged students to first learn about Nepal's rich language, culture, and heritage while also exploring the French language, civilization, and culture. They appreciated the students' enthusiasm for learning French and praised the warm hospitality of DAV School family.
The celebration also featured an Inter-School French Quiz Challenge. Twenty students, ten each from DAV School and Modern Indian School (MIS), Chovar, participated in four teams. The quiz tested their knowledge of the French language, history, culture, and general knowledge.
The programme concluded with the presentation of merit certificates and medals to all participants in recognition of their active involvement. Mr. Sylvain Choin also distributed notebooks, hats, cups, and T-shirts as special souvenirs, making the celebration a memorable experience for everyone.
