Classroom Election Demonstration for Grade VIII Students
Date: Jul 10th, 2026
The Social Studies Department recently organised a Classroom Election Demonstration for Grade VIII students to help them understand the democratic election process in a practical and engaging way. Based on the CBSE Class VIII Social Studies chapter, Electoral Systems in Democratic Countries, the activity followed the principle of learning by doing.
Students actively took on different roles, including candidates, voters, polling officers, and election officials. The demonstration included election campaigning, secret-ballot voting, vote counting, and the announcement of the results, giving students a realistic experience of the electoral process.
Through this activity, students learned the importance of free and fair elections, the value of every vote, and the responsibilities of citizens in a democracy. It also promoted active participation, teamwork, critical thinking, and respect for democratic values, while making the concepts of the chapter easier to understand. The programme was conducted by Social Studies teacher Mr. Aakash Biswakarma under the supervision of the Head of the Social Studies Department Ms. Aarti Sharma. It also supported the development of essential 21st-century skills through experiential learning.
