Classical Evening of Raag and Taal: A Graceful Welcome to New Parents

DAV School, in collaboration with Sushila Arts Academy, organised a captivating Classical Evening of Raag and Taal at Buddha Hall on 3rd May 2026 to warmly welcome the new parents into the school community.
The evening was graced by the distinguished presence of the Chief Guest, Dr. Rakesh Pandey, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of India, along with Ms. Parul Pandey as the Guest of Honour. The programme was further dignified by the presence of DAV Chairperson Shree Anil Kedia, and eminent artists from India, including Ms. Shashi Ramesh, an acclaimed Bharatanatyam exponent; Ms. Arpana Mane, a renowned Kathak artist; Mr. Kaushik Verma, a noted vocal artist; and Mr. Mallar Mukherjee, a distinguished tabla artist. Ms. Yulia Koirala, Founder of Sushila Arts Academy, also graced the occasion.
The formal proceedings commenced with a warm welcome to the guests and newly joined parents, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and a welcome address delivered by Ms. Yulia Koirala. The programme then unfolded into a mesmerising cultural showcase, reflecting the richness of Indian classical traditions.
The performances began with a vocal tribute to Late Asha Bhosle and Vrindavani Saranag ( Nepali and Hindi) followed by graceful Bharatanatyam presentation by beginner students, an enthralling performance by guest artist Ms. Shashi Ramesh. The audience was further captivated by a traditional Kathak presentation, soulful vocal and tabla performances by artists from the Embassy of India, a charming Ganesh Vandana by junior students, a Kathak recital by Ms. Arpana Mane, and a concluding Bharatanatyam performance by senior students.
On this occasion, students enrolled in the diploma programme of Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad, India, were felicitated with certificates for their successful completion of the first to fourth years. Additionally, dance and music teachers associated with DAV School and Sushila Arts Academy were honoured for their exemplary dedication and guidance.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Dr. Pandey expressed his admiration for the outstanding performances, particularly appreciating the young participants as young as six years old. He commended both DAV School and Sushila Arts Academy for organising such a meaningful event and highlighted the importance of such cultural programmes in strengthening people-to-people ties between Nepal and India.
On behalf of DAV School Family, Vice-principal Mr. Ramchandra Khanal remarked that the Classical Evening of Raag and Taal reflects the institution’s commitment to Eastern philosophy and cultural values while fostering a welcoming environment for parents. He also acknowledged the presence and encouragement of the guests and parents. Furthermore, he briefly highlighted that DAV School is a part of a vast educational network comprising over nine hundered schools and seventy-five universities and colleges worldwide, inspired by the ideals of Maharshi Dayananda Saraswati, whose contributions have significantly influenced education and social reform.
