Celebration of the Grade VIII Family Jamboree: Chairperson Encourages Parents to Inspire Children to Read the Ramayan

The much-awaited Family Jamboree Celebration of Grade VIII for the academic session 2025–26 was held in Buddha Hall after regular school hours on 27th January, 2026. The programme was marked by vibrant cultural performances and enthusiastic participation from students, parents, and staff.
The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Special Guests Shree Sandeep Mukhariya- General Secretary and Shree Nirmal Dhanuka -President of Shree Ram Hanuman Mandal, along with Shree Dilip Agrawal -President, Shree Rajesh Agrawal -General Secretary and Shree Pashupati Tibrewal- Executive Member of Kuleshwor Hanuman Mandir Sewa Samiti, Kuleshwor, Kathmandu.
DAV Chairperson Shree Anil Kedia, Principal Dr. Bhubaneswari Rao, Vice-principal Mr. Ramchandra Khanal, and CAO Ms. Vijaya Tater, along with the middle school teaching fraternity, extended a warm welcome to the distinguished guests and parents. The programme commenced with a melodious Nepali song, followed by the formal welcome of the guests and judge-parents of Grade VII, and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp in remembrance of the founding pillars.
Middle School Co-ordinator Mr. Krishna Joshi delivered the welcome address, highlighting that the Family Jamboree is a unique DAV initiative for parents, carefully planned, guided, and monitored by the Principal, Dr. Bhubaneswari Rao. He emphasised that the programme is special as it ensures 100 per cent participation of students on stage.
The jamboree featured a rich array of cultural performances, including a Kathak recital on the theme of bravery centered on women’s empowerment, a thematic dance depicting the life of Lord Hanuman, a Bharatanatyam recital based on a mythological story, a melodious English song, an international dance inspired by traditional African forms with a nostalgic theme, a contemporary Nepali dance, and a Bollywood fusion dance showcasing Bengali, Hindi, and Tamil styles.
Adding to the joy of the occasion, a fun-filled parents’ game competition brought equal elegance and excitement to the celebration. The winners were felicitated with prizes immediately after the competition.
In his address, Chairperson Shree Anil Kedia expressed his delight at meeting his childhood friends as special guests at the school programme. He shared that DAV considers the Ramayan and Mahabharata as guiding pillars of education and, rooted in faith in Sanatan Dharma, discipline, and Eastern traditions, strives to impart these values through education.
He encouraged parents to motivate their children to read the Ramayan, highlighting its lessons on obedience, harmony, and duty, citing the examples of Lord Ram’s adherence to his father King Dasharath’s command and the exemplary bond between two brothers- Ram and Bharat. He further remarked that DAV remains committed to preserving Sanatan Dharma, emphasising that safeguarding religion ensures its protection in return. He also wholeheartedly appreciated the efforts of the distinguished guests dedicated to upholding the values of the Ramayan.
The programme was further supported by the gracious presence of Human Resource Manager Mr. Ashish Rai, SSO Mr. Prashant Samal, Senior School Co-ordinator Mr. Tank Meghji Devji, Junior School Co-ordinator Mr. Andrew Fitz Patrick, and Kindergarten Co-ordinator Ms. Shanti Gurung, who extended warm hospitality to the guests and parents.
The programme was efficiently compered by Mr. Surchen Shah (Middle School Activity In-charge), Ms. Gauri Tamang (Middle School MR), Mr. Aakash Bishwokarma (Middle School Social Studies Teacher), and Mr. Shyam Lal Das (Middle School Mathematics Teacher), contributing to the smooth and successful conduct of the celebration.
