A Grand Fresher’s Welcome Programme for Grade XI Students

In keeping with the cherished cultural legacy of DAV Sushil Kedia Vishwa Bharati School, Grade XII students organised a grand Fresher’s Day celebration to warmly welcome the newly enrolled Grade XI batch.
The event was graced by the benign presence of the Honourable Chairperson, Shree Anil Kedia, who served as the Chief Guest. The Principal Dr. Bhubaneswari Rao, Vice-principal Mr. Ramchandra Khanal, CAO Ms. Vijaya Tater, SSO Mr. Prashant Samal, and Senior School Co-ordinator Mr. Tank Meghji Devji were warmly invited as the special guests. The event was meticulously planned and executed by the students of Grade XII.
The formal programme commenced with the traditional welcoming of Chairperson Shree Anil Kedia with a bouquet and khada, followed by a tribute to the nation through the national anthem, ceremonial lamp lighting, and a warm welcome speech from a Grade XI student. On behalf of Grade XII, Suraj Purbey of XII 'B' delivered a heartfelt address to greet the freshers.
In his inspirational speech, Chairperson Shree Anil Kedia warmly welcomed the new students and commended their choice of joining one of the finest academic institutions. Emphasizing the importance of the +2 years, he described this phase as a crucial transition from adolescence to maturity and advised students to make wise decisions during this period. He cautioned against the illusions of social media and encouraged students to stay focused on their personal and academic growth.
Highlighting the school’s ethos, he expressed pride in DAV’s strong value system and academic environment, not only in Nepal but across India and other parts of the world. He praised the school for producing a large number of successful professionals, especially in the medical field, and reminded students of the importance of listening, discipline, and maintaining professional relationships – even within the family. A particularly moving moment came when he advised students to start by listening to their mothers as a foundation for becoming better listeners overall.
The Principal, in her address, extended a gracious welcome to all and encouraged students to embrace their journey at DAV with pride, purpose, and integrity. She reminded them that education is not merely about earning a livelihood but about building a meaningful life. Applauding the commitment of the Grade XII students for organising the event, she urged them to match their enthusiasm with academic sincerity and character.
As part of the cultural segment, the Chairperson presented tokens of love to all Grade XI students. The programme featured vibrant performances by Grade XII students, including mash-up songs and dances that reflected joy, creativity, and camaraderie.
A highlight of the day was the Master and Miss Fresher’s Competition. After impressive performances and interactions, Purvansh Bhatta (XI 'C') and Jiya Jha (XI 'A') were crowned Master Fresher and Miss Fresher respectively. They were honoured with sashes and gift hampers by the Chairperson in the presence of the school’s top management.
The judges for the competition were CAO Ms. Vijaya Tater, Junior School Co-ordinator Mr. Andrew Fitz Patric, and Dance HoD Ms. Shreejana Shrestha. The programme was moderated by Moli Nevatia and Yazat Dev Bhatta of XII 'A', along with Saksham Kumar Gupta of XII 'C'. A vote of thanks was delivered by Aarya Thapa of XI 'A'.
The event concluded with a lively performance by the Kalapanik Band, who entertained the audience with melodious English Hindi and Nepali numbers. The vibrant celebration came to a close with a joyful closing party on the school premises, marking a memorable beginning for the new batch of Grade XI students.
