The formal programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, singing of the national anthem, and a welcome address delivered by Mr. Shreedhar Subedi, In-charge of the Mother Teresa Social Service Club.
In his address, SP Mr. Giri expressed his appreciation to DAV School for the opportunity to deliver a session on road safety and traffic awareness. He encouraged the students to disseminate the knowledge they gained within their homes and communities, highlighting the collective responsibility of all citizens in promoting road safety.
During the session, SP Mr. Giri and Senior Sub-Inspector Mr. Bista presented an informative and engaging talk. They outlined the duties and responsibilities of the Nepal Police as stipulated by national law, noting that all citizens, including police personnel, are equally bound by the law.
SP Mr. Giri explained fundamental traffic concepts in a clear and accessible manner, covering topics such as the history of traffic management in Nepal, the role of traffic police, traffic signals and lights, categories of road users, causes of different types of road accidents, and essential rules and precautions for both motorists and pedestrians. He also discussed key behavioural practices that can help prevent accidents and save lives.
To further enrich the session, students were shown several educational traffic awareness videos.
Speaking on behalf of the school, Vice-Principal Mr. Ramchandra Khanal highlighted that many road accidents occur due to carelessness, even among those who are aware of the traffic rules. He stressed the need for such awareness programmes to be conducted regularly to foster greater alertness among students and the wider community. He also shared statistical data on daily road accidents in 2023 and 2025, and commended the Nepal Traffic Police for their success in reducing accident rates through sustained awareness efforts.
The executive members of the Mother Teresa Social Service Club had the privilege of capturing a memorable moment with Principal Dr. Bhubaneswari Rao, who was present in Buddha Hall to witness the grand rehearsal for the upcoming International Yoga and Music Day, scheduled for 20th June 2025.
