Eighteen finalists of the Read to the Principal programme attended an interactive session with Principal Dr. Bhubaneswari Rao on March 2.
The junior school finalists included Ankit Bhattacharya (Grade II 'C'), Raisha Prajapati (Grade II 'F'), Lunasha Regmi (Grade III 'E'), Rahul Ray (Grade III 'E'), Arnav Roy (Grade IV 'B'), and Divya Daga (Grade IV 'H').
From the middle school, the finalists were Mridhul Bajracharya and Seismic G.C. (Grade V 'A'), Aaradhay Khadka and Ananya Risal (Grade VI 'A'), Samyukta Thapa (Grade VI 'B'), Seema Thakur and Himanshu Brahma (Grade VII 'H'), Aayushree Banstola and Roxaulina Thapa (Grade VII 'I'), Tejaswi Khadka (Grade VIII 'B'), Aarogya Pyakurel (Grade VIII 'E'), and Prachur Dhakal (Grade VIII 'F').
During the session, the finalists read excerpts from their chosen books, followed by a discussion with the Principal and judges—Mr. Anjal Tajpuria and Mr. Jonash Lepcha from the English Department. The judges posed different questions, including the book’s theme, reasons for selection, character analysis, setting, plot, significance of the title, and moral of the story.
The Principal praised the students for their reading habits and expressed keen interest in their reading culture at home. She encouraged them to continue exploring books and congratulated the teachers from the English and Library Departments for their efforts in making the programme a success.
Before reaching the final stage, the English and Library Departments teachers conducted multiple rounds of interviews, selecting the best candidates from a large pool of enthusiastic participants. The winners will soon be honoured with Certificates of Achievement and Awards.
