Principal Highlights Cultural Significance of Teej and Advocates for Women's Empowerment

The Principal Dr. Bhubaneswari Rao welcomed the school community to the Teej celebration, a festival deeply rooted in Nepali culture on September 5.
Chairperson Shree Anil Kedia and the First Lady Shreemati Sunita Kedia made the gracious presence in the celebration programme as the Chief Guest alongside were representative mothers from each class from Kindergarten to Grade XII. All the teachers enthusiastically participated in the programme.
In her speech, the Principal emphasized the cultural importance of Teej, noting it as a festival that not only celebrates womanhood but also serves as a reminder of the resilience and strength of women. She highlighted how Teej has historically empowered women, giving them a platform to express themselves, celebrate their traditions, and strengthen their sense of identity.
The Principal tied these reflections to the school’s 2024-25 theme "EACH," focusing on Empowerment, Academic Excellence, Cultural Awareness, and Holistic Well-being. She reiterated that the school is committed to nurturing cultural values alongside academic learning, emphasizing that festivals like Teej help students connect with their cultural roots while promoting respect for traditions and unity.
The Principal took a moment to address a tragic incident involving a PG intern doctor in Kolkata, India, which highlighted ongoing global issues related to women's safety and rights. She emphasized that such incidents are not only crimes but affronts to humanity, stressing the urgent need for a society that respects and empowers women.
On the occasion, Chairperson Shree Anil Kedia extended good wishes for peace, prosperity and happiness to all. He emphasised that women are revered and worshipped in Vedic traditions, with the Teej festival symbolizing this honour. He quoted Vedic teachings, "Gods live in places where women are worshipped," and praised the courage, sacrifice, and love embodied by women.
During the celebration, teachers from Kindergarten, Junior School, Middle School, and Senior School presented captivating Teej dances and songs. Similarly, the mothers showcased their dance skills, adding elegance and joy to the festivities.
The programme was moderated by Nepali HoD Mr. Narayan Khatiwada and Sanskrit HoD Mr. Purushottam Rijal, with Mr. Khatiwada introducing the event. The celebration concluded with a delightful Teej party at the school canteen. The programme was jointly organised by Mentorship Team, Parental Involvement Team and Display Team.
