Inter-House Deusi Bhailo Competition

Date: Oct 8th, 2024

Nepali Department and Devkota Nepali Club at DAV School organised an inspiring "Inter-House Deusi Bhailo Competition" on October 8, celebrating the festive spirit of Dashain and Tihar.
Held in the lively Buddha Hall, the event gathered students from Grades V to VIII, who enthusiastically showcased their cultural pride and artistic flair through traditional Deusi Bhailo performances.
The competition featured spirited participation from all houses, with students displaying enthusiasm, grace, and a deep respect for tradition. Deusi Bhailo, an essential part of the Tihar festival in Nepal, involves a harmonious blend of singing, dancing, and blessings, with performers visiting homes to share joy and prosperity. The students captured this essence beautifully, incorporating classic songs and dance moves with creative touches.
In a close contest, Mt. Machhapuchhre House claimed first place, followed by Mt. Gaurishankar House in second, and Mt. Kanchanjunga House in third. The winning teams were praised for their energy, precision, and ability to captivate the audience.
School officials present included Vice-Principal Mr. Ramchandra Khanal, Middle School Coordinator Mr. Krishna Joshi, Head of the Nepali Department Mr. Narayan Khatiwada, and Senior School Activity In-Charge Mr. Tankanath Ghimire. The competition was evaluated by Dance Teacher Ms. Sashi Paudel and Music Teacher Mr. Bibek Thapa, with Grade X student Anushuya Dhungana serving as the MC.
In his concluding remarks, Vice-Principal highlighted the cultural significance of Deusi and Bhailo and encouraged students to integrate these traditions into social service, as their senior batches have done. Nepali HOD announced the results, noting that the Deusi Bhailo Competition aligns with the cultural focus of the school’s theme, EACH, for the 2024/25 session. Middle school students from Grades V to VIII were the audience.
