First Indo-Nepal T-20 Cricket Academy Tournament Concluded with Grand Success

The grand final of the Tip Top Indo-Nepal T-20 Academy Cricket Tournament featured an exhilarating contest on 31st January.
Tip Top DAV Cricket Academy emerged victorious, defeating Great Himalaya Cricket Academy (GHCA) by 34 runs. The tournament was inaugurated on 26th January by DAV Chairperson, Shree Anil Kedia, and Vice-principal, Mr. Ramchandra Khanal. During the inauguration ceremony, Shree Kedia addressed young cricketers motivating each one of them to show sportsmanship on the ground and wished for the successful completion of the tournament.
The award ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of Chief Guest, Mr. Roshan Singh, Vice-president of CAN, alongside Guests of Honour, Dr. Bhubaneswari Rao and Mr. Tank Meghji Devji. Special Guest, Mr. Madhab Karmacharya, Central Member of CAN, was also in attendance. Among the distinguished guests were- Mr. Bikash Sharma, proprietor of Tip Top, Mr. Mahesh Ghiraiya, proprietor of Shivashakti Edumart, Mr. Sunil Gaggar, proprietor of MIKTM Beauty Care, and Mr. Kesav Parajuli, proprietor of Naulo Koseli.
The champions, Tip Top DAV Cricket Academy, were awarded a cash prize of NPR 50,000, along with the championship trophy, medals, and certificates of achievement. The runner-up team, Great Himalaya Cricket Academy, received a cash prize of NPR 25,000, along with the runner-up trophy, medals, and certificates. The Fair Play Award was presented to Bolpur Youth Town Club from West Bengal, India, in recognition of their exemplary sportsmanship.
Angels' Sports Academy, Pulsar Cec, and Nexus Cricket Academy also participated in the tournament, showcasing outstanding cricketing skills. Individual awards were presented to deserving players from all the team during the final award ceremony.
As per the final match, Tip Top DAV Cricket Academy batted first and set a competitive target, scoring 139/6 in 20 overs. Shreyash Agrawal played a crucial innings, scoring 39 runs off 33 balls, while Prasanga Poudel contributed 33 runs from 29 balls. GHCA bowlers Samiya Sapkota (2/18) and Vansh Chhetri (2/24) delivered disciplined spells to restrict the opposition's total.
Chasing 140, GHCA struggled to build strong partnerships and were bowled out for 105 in 19 overs. Suprim Sunar displayed resilience with a commendable knock of 61 runs from 49 balls, but a lack of support from the other batters led to their downfall. Tip Top DAV’s bowling unit performed exceptionally well, with Prasiddha Jaishi claiming 3 wickets for 28 runs and Keshav Agrawal contributing with figures of 2/8. Prasiddha Jaishi’s all-round brilliance earned him the Player of the Match award, securing Tip Top DAV’s victory and the championship title.
During the award ceremony, Chief Guest, Mr. Roshan Singh, praised DAV School and all the cricket academies for their contributions to the development of cricket in Nepal. He also commended DAV Chairperson, Shree Anil Kedia, and Principal, Dr. Bhubaneswari Rao, for organizing such a prestigious event.
Likewise, Head of Sports, Mr Purnendu Ghosh, expressed sincere gratitude to DAV Chairperson, Shree Anil Kedia, Principal, Dr Bhubaneswari Rao, and all collaborating partners, including Bagmati Television Pvt. Ltd, as well as everyone who played a role in making the tournament a tremendous success.
