Family Jamboree Begins for the Academic Session 2025/26

The annual cultural celebration, popularly known as the Family Jamboree, commenced for the academic session 2025/26 with a vibrant and outstanding performance by the students of Grade X. The event took place on 5th June 2025 in Buddha Hall.
The programme was graced by the benign presence of the Evergreen Action Hero of the Nepali Film Industry, Mr. Shiva Shrestha, alongside special guests: Shree Bimal Kedia, social worker and former Constituent Assembly member; Dr. Mohan Regmi, Executive Director of Civil Hospital; and Mr. Angdawa Sherpa, social worker. DAV Chairperson, Shree Anil Kedia attended the event as a Guest of Honour further adding ecstasy and elegance into the atmosphere.
The audience comprised primarily the parents and guardians of Grade X students, with a few Grade IX parents specially invited to assess the performances as judge parents.
The event opened with a melodious mashup English song, followed by the formal proceedings which included the welcome of distinguished guests, ceremonial lamp lighting, rendition of the national anthem, introduction of the parent judges, and a welcome address by Ms. Aarti Sharma, Social Studies HoD.
The cultural showcase featured a dynamic range of performances: classical Indian dance forms including Bharatnatyam and Kathak, a lively parents’ game competition, traditional Nepali cultural dances, international dance numbers, a heartfelt Nepali duet song dedicated to the Chief Guest Mr. Shiva Shrestha, a Nepali mashup song, thematic dances, and energetic Bollywood performances.
In his address, veteran actor Mr. Shiva Shrestha expressed his heartfelt delight at being invited to witness the cultural programme. He shared how visiting schools always evokes deep emotions in him, and fondly recalled his connection with the late Founder of DAV School, Shree Shankar Lal Kedia, as well as his son, Chairperson Shree Anil Kedia. He praised the students’ performances as “superb”, humbly remarking that even as an experienced actor, he could not match their level of enthusiasm and talent. He also applauded the school’s vibrant learning environment, the dedicated efforts of the choreographers, teachers, and management team. Mr. Shrestha reflected on his 42-year journey in the film industry, attributing his success to the unwavering love and support of his audience.
The winners of the parents’ game competition were awarded immediately after the event by Chairperson Shree Anil Kedia, in the presence of all honoured guests.
The Family Jamboree is the visionary initiative of the Principal Dr. Bhubaneswari Rao, and has become a signature event that sets DAV School apart, both nationally and internationally. The performances were staged only after the Principal was fully pleased with the rehearsals and readiness of all participants.
Vice-principal Mr. Ramchandra Khanal delivered the formal vote of thanks, expressing heartfelt appreciation to the distinguished guests and parents for their valuable presence and continued support of the school's cultural endeavours.
The event was further supported by the presence and warm hospitality of CAO Ms. Vijaya Tater, SSO Mr. Prashant Samal, Senior School Coordinator Mr. Tank Meghji Devji, HR Mr. Ashish Rai, Faculty Heads, and all the school authorities.
The evening’s proceedings were skillfully moderated by Mr. Shovan Bhandari (Science) and Ms Diksha Koirala (English). The parents' game competition was led by Mr. Binod Piya (Science).
