DAV School organised a much awaited event, 'Doughnut with Dad', on 16th December 2024, within the school premises. Representative fathers from Nursery to Grade XII were cordially invited to participate in the celebration programme.
The event commenced with a heartfelt welcome extended to the fathers by Chairperson Shree Anil Kedia, Principal Dr. Bhubaneswari Rao, Vice-Principal Mr. Ramchandra Khanal, CAO Ms. Vijaya Tater, along with SSO, Wing Co-ordinators, HR and Heads of Departments. This gesture reflected the school's dedication to value-based education and fostering meaningful connections between families and the school community.
The fathers had the opportunity to visit classrooms, where students engaged with them through inspiring discussions, interactive activities, and personal experiences shared by both students and teachers. Following this, a special assembly was held, during which students honoured their fathers by presenting them with khada scarves and heartfelt gifts, creating a memorable moment of gratitude and appreciation.
Chairperson Shree Anil Kedia addressed the assembly, encouraging students to value and respect their fathers, recognising the immense effort fathers put into their children's well-being and future. He also urged the fathers to allow their children to cultivate independence, even amidst changing family dynamics and societal shifts. Emphasising the importance of self-reliance, he stated, “If children are dependent, they are handicapped,” highlighting that true learning stems from individual effort, which ensures long-lasting and sustainable growth.
Principal Dr. Bhubaneswari Rao also delivered an inspiring address, emphasising the crucial role fathers play in shaping their children’s academic and emotional journeys. She highlighted how paternal involvement contributes to children’s academic success, emotional well-being, and social confidence, underscoring that events like these create lasting memories while strengthening the vital bond between home and school.
Representing the fathers, Physician Dr. Bipendra Dhoj Kulung Rai expressed gratitude to the school for nurturing students with moral values alongside academics. He praised the initiative for teaching children to appreciate their fathers and expressed hope for the continuation of such programmes in the future.
Similarly, Army Officer Mr. Deepak Adhikari shared his thoughts on the transformative impact of technology on education across generations. He emphasised that while learning methods have evolved, the foundational principles of success—hard work, discipline, and dedication—remain unchanged. He encouraged students to embrace technology as a powerful tool for learning, in alignment with the demands of the modern era.
Adding to the celebratory atmosphere, students from the Music Department performed heartwarming songs dedicated to fathers, making the occasion even more special. The event served as a touching platform where stories, lessons, and inspiration were exchanged, strengthening familial bonds and motivating the younger generation to work towards a brighter future.
The moderators of the programme were Ms. Diksha Koirala and Mr. Tankanath Ghimire (Senior School), Ms. Samita Raut (Middle School), and Ms. Anusha Rana and Ms. Prabha Chhetri (Junior and Kindergarten School).
Overall, 'Doughnut with Dad' was a meaningful and joyful celebration, leaving everyone with cherished memories.
