Closing Ceremony of English Week

On the 5th of September 2024, DAV School marked the conclusion of its English Week with an inspiring speech from the Principal Dr. Bhubaneswari Rao.
The event was graced by Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Laxman Gyawali, and President of NELTA, alongside Guest of Honour Shree Anil Kedia, Vice-principal Mr. Ramchandra Khanal and CAO Ms. Vijaya Tater.
In her address, the Principal emphasized the importance of the theme, "The Power of Words: Unlocking Communication through Spoken English," which had been the focus throughout the week. She highlighted the transformative nature of language, stating that "words can inspire, heal, motivate, and connect us to one another." Reflecting on the various activities, including debates, speeches, and skits, she applauded the students for their enthusiasm in harnessing the power of language.
The Principal also addressed a growing concern regarding the reluctance of some students to practice English, citing a preference for their mother tongues. While expressing deep respect for native languages, she stressed the importance of English as a crucial tool for success in today’s globalized world. “Proficiency in English is not just beneficial—it is essential,” she remarked.
The Principal urged students to strike a balance, encouraging them to cherish their mother tongue while also developing strong English communication skills. "The more languages you master, the more versatile and capable you become," she added. She concluded her speech by encouraging everyone to "keep practicing, keep speaking, and keep unlocking the power of words."
In the same trait, the Chief Guest, Dr. Gnawali congratulated all the awardees and appreciated the confidence of students on the stage. He was extremely delighted to see students blooming on the stage and wished to see similar enthusiasm in the future. Meanwhile, he shared his educational history and shortly discussed the importance of pronunciation, stress and intonation in communication.
On the occasion, a total of fifty one class toppers of different inter-section competition were honoured with Certificate of Achievements and Awards by the Chief Guest in the presence of Chairperson, Principal and Vice-principal.
Prior to this ceremony a total of three hundred and sixty seven winners of Intra-section competition were honoured with the certificate of achievements in the morning assembly of 3rd and 4th September, 2024. The programme concluded with vote of Thanks from English HoD Ms. Asha Thapa.
The competitions that were held on English Week were Essay Writing Competition, Handwriting Competition, Story Writing Competition, Poetry Writing Competition, Pictorial Story writing Competition, Monologue Competition, Bio Speech Competition, Poetry Recitation Competition and Skit Competition. The competition were organised in different levels.
