Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Prof. Dr. Upadhyaya warmly appreciated DAV School for keeping the legacy of Late Janardan Ghimire alive. He fondly remembered him as a devoted Sanskrit scholar who made remarkable contributions through his published book Shabda Sandoha and his establishment of the Gaurishankar Sanskrit Gram in Dolakha. He also recalled Swami Dayananda Saraswati, who spread the Vedic and Sanatan civilisation to the Western world. Prof. Dr. Upadhyaya highlighted that Sanskrit is not just a language but also embodies culture, science and civilisation itself.
Chairperson Shree Anil Kedia, with deep gratitude, recalled his father, Late Shree Shankar Lal Kedia, who founded a Sanskrit school at a time when Western civilisation was overshadowing the East. As the founder of the World Hindu Organisation, Shankar Lal Kedia had initiated many revolutionary actions to preserve and promote Vedic civilisation and culture. He had also built a close bond with Late Janardan Ghimire due to their shared vision.
Reflecting on DAV School’s journey, Shree Kedia emphasised that the institution has been teaching Sanskrit for 33 years, and he expressed delight at seeing many schools across Nepal now teaching the subject. He praised Janardan Ghimire’s immense contribution towards preserving and promoting Sanskrit and firmly stated that learning Sanskrit helps individuals become spiritual, disciplined, moral, cultured, and ultimately saintly. He further remarked that DAV students have excelled globally due to the cultural foundation instilled in them and heartily welcomed all Sanskrit scholars to visit the School time and again.
Vice-principal Mr. Ramchandra Khanal extended heartfelt gratitude to all dignitaries and participants for their presence at the programme held in honour of Late Janardan Ghimire. He further stressed that the vision of establishing Sanskrit Grams must be carried forward as a shared responsibility of all eminent scholars.
The closing ceremony was moderated by Mr. Purushottam Rijal, Head of the Sanskrit Department, and Mr. Niranjan Khatiwada.
