Celebration of Shree Krishna Janmastami

Students from Grades V to X CBSE celebrated Krishna Janmastami with deep devotion and respect on August 23 in the Buddha Hall of Shankar Sadan. Lord Krishna is revered as the 8th incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
The event was jointly organised by the Hindi Department in collaboration with the Kabir Sahitya Samaj (Hindi Club). The celebration was honoured by the presence of Dr Raju Adhikari, a spiritual guide and author, as the Chief Guest, along with special guest Shree Hari Dahal and guest of honour DAV Chairperson Shree Anil Kedia. DAV Principal Dr Bhubaneswari Rao and the Vice-Principal Mr. Ramchandra Khanal warmly welcomed the guests and attended the students' performances on stage.
As a part of the celebration, a total of 16 students from the Junior School presented 'Krishna Baal Leela' and performed dances depicting the life of Lord Krishna during the morning assembly. They also showcased their talents later in the Buddha Hall for the middle and senior school students.
Continuing the festivities, 15 students from Grade VII participated in a Matki Fod competition. Abhishek Mishra from VII 'G' won the competition and was awarded a merit certificate by the esteemed guests.
The highlight of the celebration was the inter-house solo dance competition dedicated to Lord Krishna. Chanchal Mohata from Grade VIII 'G' (Mt. Machhapuchhre House) secured the first position, followed by Parishna Bastola from VIII 'D' (Mt. Dhaulagiri House) in second place, and Sakshi Gupta from VIII 'G' (Mt. Gaurishankar House) in third place.
Some middle school students also performed group dances. All the winners were honoured with merit certificates by Chairperson Shree Anil Kedia and Principal Dr Bhubaneswari Rao in the presence of the invited guests.
The Chief Guest, Dr Adhikari praised the students’ performances and made a presentation on the philosophy and teachings of Lord Krishna. He highlighted Krishna’s wisdom and encouraged students to stay positive and avoid negativity. He also discussed the Mahabharata, stressing the global significance of Eastern philosophy and culture, and encouraged students to study these subjects. Dr Adhikari presented some of his notable books to Chairperson Shree Anil Kedia.
Addressing on the auspicious occasion, Chairperson Shree Anil Kedia emphasised the value of simplicity and discernment in spiritual practice. He encouraged students to embrace simplicity, quoting from the Mahabharata and discussing its episodes. He underscored that culture and religion are vital threads in sustaining civilization and urged students to study the Ramayana and Mahabharata for greater knowledge and insight.
The event began with a welcome speech by Hindi HoD Mr. Purushottam Pokharel and a welcome ceremony facilitated by Club In-charge Ms Indu Thakur. The judges for the Inter-House Dance Competition were Mr. Sujit Ranjitkar and Ms. Narmila Subedi. The celebration concluded with all participants joining in the Aarati with the School Authorities and the invited guests.
