Celebration of International Mother Language Day for Grade V and VI Students

An Inter-House Playlet Competition was organised to celebrate International Mother Language Day for Grade V and VI students in Jetavan Hall on 20th February.
The theme for the competition was '' Mother language and Importance of Culture". Based on this theme, a team of six houses presented playlet in different topics like ' Remote Village vs Urban Life', 'Elderly Homes', and 'The Role of Family and Culture in Upbringing Children'.
The students showcased exceptional acting and presentation skills. The judging criteria included content, enactment skills, linguistic accuracy, style, verbal expression, and costumes. The performance of the students was evaluated by the Middle School Activity In-Charge, Mr. Surchen Shah.
Addressing the gathering, Grade IX and X SEE In-Charge, Mr. Narayan Khatiwada, emphasised that the event aimed to promote respect and awareness of different mother languages. He highlighted that a mother tongue is a valuable asset and a key part of a community’s identity. Reflecting on the playlets, he remarked that schools play a vital role in imparting knowledge and skills, and commended all the teachers for organising such a creative programme.
The United Nations declared 21st February as International Mother Language Day in 1999. To mark this day, the students from Kindergarten to Senior School participated in various activities and competitions from 16th to 21st February 2025. These events were collectively organised by the Nepali, Hindi, and Sanskrit Departments.
In the same trait, Middle School Activity In-charge praised the participants for delivering an impressive performance within a short preparation time.
As per the results, Mt. Dhaulagiri House secured first place, followed by Mt. Machhapuchhre House in second and Mt. Lhotse House in third positions respectively.
