Celebration of 'Matatirtha Aunshi, 2081'

DAV School organised a special event called the 'Mothers Worshiping in Vedic Traditions' on 8th May, 2024 to celebrate Matatirtha Aunshi, also known as 'Aamako Mukh Herne Din.'
 Representative mothers from different sections of the school, from Kindergarten to Senior School, were invited to bless the students in their future endeavors.
The guest of honour for the event was Ms. Maya Thakuri, a well-known author and critic. The event began with lighting a lamp to pay homage to those who have passed away, specially Late Shree Indumati Kedia, who was like a mother figure to DAV School Community.
Ms. Maya Thakuri, the guest of honour, was excited and grateful for the honour given to her on such auspicious occasion. She shared stories about how important mothers are in our lives, even if sometimes we don't appreciate them enough. Ms. Thakuri's books are famous in many countries and are even used in schools and universities. She generously donated some of her books to the DAV School library.
Mr. Ramchandra Khanal, Vice-principal, thanked all the mothers for being a part of the event and emphasized the importance of mothers in our lives. He said that we can achieve success with our mothers' blessings and that there is no place holier than a mother's love.
Vice-principal underscored that the 'Mothers Worshiping Programme in Vedic Traditions' aimed at deepening students' connection with their cultural heritage. He extended heartfelt gratitude to all the mothers for their invaluable presence and support, envisioning continued collaboration in the future.
During the event, beautiful poems dedicated to mothers were recited by the Chief Guest, Vice-principal, and the Head of the Nepali Department. There were also songs performed by teachers Mr. Jitendra Chaudhary and Ms. Aakanshya Ghimire from the Music Department.
CAO Ms. Vijaya Tater, SSO Mr. Prashant Samal, Senior School Co-ordinator Mr. Tank Meghji Devji, Middle School Co-ordinator Mr. Krishna Joshi, Junior School Co-ordinator Mr. Andrew Fitz Patrik, Kindergarten Co-ordinator Ms. Shanti Gurung and HR Mr. Aashish Rai were there to extend sincere hospitality and warm welcome to all the invited mothers.
As a part of the rituals, Mr. Damodar Regmi, the Sanskrit HoD, chanted prayers and mantras from the Vedas, explaining how mothers are regarded as Goddesses in Vedic tradition. He encouraged students to treat their mothers as living Goddesses.
Mr. Narayan Khatiwada, Head of the Nepali Department emphasized how difficult it is to fully understand the role of mothers in our lives. He said that this special day was created by our ancestors to honor and remember all the mothers who have been and are in our lives.
